News Release NEWS RELEASE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS OF THE 48TH ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY® AWARDS FICTION & LIFESTYLE CEREMONY Virtual Telecast Hosted by Daytime Emmy® Award-Winner, Loni Love NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES (JULY 18, 2021) - The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards Fiction & Lifestyle categories. The ceremony was live-streamed on our Emmy® OTT platform powered by Vimeo with more than twenty-five categories celebrated on the telecast and on social media. The Daytime Emmy® Awards Fiction & Lifestyle ceremony was hosted by Emmy® award- winning talk show host, author and comedian Loni Love. This was her second time hosting one of our Daytime programs. Other presenters on the telecast included boxing world champion, author and lifestyle TV personality Laila Ali, Francisco Hernández Cáceres (Un Nuevo Dia, Telemundo), Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (A House Divided, UMC [ALLBLK]) and Jodi Long (Dash & Lily, Netflix). The Daytime Emmy® Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in daytime television programming since 1974. The awards are presented to programs broadcast between 2:00 AM and 6:00 PM, as well as all forms of children’s television programming and certain categories of streaming and syndicated content. This year’s Daytime Emmys® are the most competitive ever, with more than 3,100 submissions featuring content that originally premiered in calendar-year 2020, judged by a pool of peer professionals from across the television industry. The 48th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards was produced by NATAS with Adam Sharp and Steve Ulrich, Executive Producers, Lisa Armstrong, Senior Producer, Rachel Schwartz, Writer and Manager, Daytime Awards Administration and Brent Stanton, Executive Director, Daytime Awards Administration. Josh Centers and I co-wrote the book about the version of Preview SIG News 2 that shipped with macOS 10.11 El Capitan, back in July 2016, and while I have continued to rely on the Club News 3 app every day, not much seemed to change with Preview in 10.12 Sierra or 10.13 High Sierra. When Door Prize Winners 6 10.14 Mojave rolled around, however, its Continuity Camera and screenshot features directly impacted Preview, so I decided it was time to do a deep dive and see what else might have changed in Preview. Joy of Tech 7 Unfortunately, the results of my investigation weren’t particularly Apple Special Event 8 positive. The new features in Preview don’t add much value, one Macs, iPads & Apple change is actively bad, and Apple introduced a handful of bugs. Truglio is the senior vice president of curriculum and content at Sesame Workshop, where she is responsible for the development of the interdisciplinary curriculum on which Sesame Street is based, and oversees content development across platforms such as television, publishing, toys, home video, and theme park activities. She also oversees the curriculum development for all new show production, including Esme and Roy, a series about learning through play, airing on HBO and PBS, and two shows on Apple TV’s Ghostwriter, a reimagined version of a workshop series with a literature focus from the 1990s and Helpsters, whose characters love to solve problems using fundamental coding skills. Before joining Sesame Workshop in 1997, Truglio was an Assistant Professor of Communication and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. In addition to numerous articles in child and developmental psychology journals, she is the author of Ready for School! A Parent’s Guide to Playful Learning for Children Ages 2 to 5 (2019) and coeditor of G is for Growing: Thirty Years of Research on Children and Sesame Street (2001). She currently serves on the advisory boards of the Child Trends News Service; Read Alliance; The Ultimate Block Party; and The Toy Association Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She previously served on the National Advisory Child Health and Human Development Council (NICHD), the LEGO Foundation Research and Innovation Network, and the PBS KIDS Next Generation Media, among others.
