We offer specialist music performance and SPECIALISE IN: production education, preparing you for a career in the modern music industry. Founded in 1994, the Academy of Music and Sound offers music education by professional musicians for ages 16-19, through to undergraduate and postgraduate study in Edinburgh, Exeter, Gateshead, Glasgow, Southampton, PERFORMANCE and Online. With UK artists dominating the global music scene and the increasing popularity PRODUCTION of festivals and live music bringing £4bn into the UK economy, it is an exciting industry for those looking for a fulfilling vocation. There are a huge range of career paths for you to follow, from performance, songwriting and production through to BUSINESS stage management and sound engineering. AMS alumni are now successfully within the UK and global music industry. Notable alumni include: • Tristan Evans - Drummer in Virgin EMI-signed band The Vamps – He is also the producer on many of their songs. They have launched their own record label and played in stadiums across the world. • Laurence Jones – Songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, winning Young Blues Artist of the Year in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He has supported Van Morrison, James Bay, Jools Holland and Buddy Guy. • Josh Kumra – Signed to Sony RCA, he co-wrote the number 1 single, ‘Don’t Go’ with Wretch 32. Going on to release his album, collaborating with the likes of Naughty Boy and Emeli Sandé. • Eddy Thrower – Drummer in Lower Than Atlantis, selling out 6 UK tours as well as having two Top 40 albums, they have music featured on games such as Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. • Anchor Lane - Finished their HN studies before embarking on an extensive tour of the UK and performing at this year’s Download, Isle of Wight Festival and the O2 Academy supporting Tremonti. “Explosive hard rockin’ sounds from a young band with some unforgettable riffs.” Jim Gellatly, Amazing Radio & Scottish Sun. • LUCIA - Currently performing up and down the UK almost every week, there isn’t a pocket in which LUCIA haven’t performed. Off the back of being flown over to Texas for SXSW, they have performed at XPONorth, TRNSMT and are headlining their own show at the legendary Glasgow venue King Tuts. The band have the backing of Craig Armstrong who has worked with U2, Massive Attack and Lana Del Rey. Additionally, we provide training for music technology and sound production suitable for beginners or experienced professionals. Our courses are funded through college partnerships, so most people aged 14- plus and resident in Scotland can participate for FREE.
