WHEREAS, Student Government serves as the official voice of students at The University of Texas at Austin; and

WHEREAS, For 16 seasons, Mack Brown served as the head football coach for the University 1 of Texas with an overall record of 158-48 ; and

WHEREAS, Coach Brown led the to 3 BCS Bowl victories, including the 2004 and 2005 Rose Bowls, the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the 2005 and 2009 Big XII 2 Championships and the 2005 National Championship ; and ) WHEREAS, Coach Brown finished with a career record of 10-4 against rival Texas A&M; 3 winning the last conference meeting on November 24, 2011 ; and

WHEREAS, Mack Brown was the recipient of the 2005 Bear Bryant Award recognizing him as 4 national coach of the year ; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of Brown's career, the Texas Longhorns sent 58 players to the 5 National Football League ; and

WHEREAS, Amongst his players over the past decade, Brown maintained a 4 year graduation 6 rate of over 70% ; and

WHEREAS, Coach Brown, "Honored the celebrated tradition of Texas football and reunited 7 legendary Coach Darrell K. Royal with the program." , and

WHEREAS, University of Texas President Bill Powers has stated, "Mack Brown is one of the best football coaches in the country and a tremendous representative of our university."8 And

WHEREAS, Mack Brown has raised the athletic, academic and moral standards for the longhorn football program and The University of Texas at Austin; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, The University of Texas at Austin Student Government recognizes the distinguished career of Coach Mack Brown, commends his service to the university, and applauds him for his legacy defined by integrity, class and impeccable character;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to the Office of the University of Texas Athletics, Office of University of Texas Football, Office of the Dean of Students, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Office of the President, and The Daily Texan.
