Indiaspora Leadership Forum 2018 Thinkers, Doers, Givers Bios Meenakshi Abbi joined RPA’s San Francisco office in May 2012 as a member of the Sponsored Projects & Funds team. She manages a portfolio of projects and donor collaboratives focused on a range of issues including education, diversity, improving philanthropy, impact investing, and other issues. Prior to her current role at RPA, Meenakshi worked at Tides for over four years as a program manager for fiscally sponsored 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) projects, and helped re-launch Tides Advocacy Fund. She was also Director of the Small Business Development Center Technology Advisory Program, a nonprofit dedicated to helping small businesses effectively utilize technology. Meenakshi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Her passions include civic engagement, financial inclusion, and social justice. She is on the advisory board of Fund the People, Justice Strategies and is the co-chair of Asian American Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy San Francisco’s Steering Committee. Qamar Adamjee, Malavalli Family Foundation Associate Curator of Art of the Indian Subcontinent at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, joined the museum in 2009. She received her PhD and MA in art history from New York University and an MBA in marketing from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi (Pakistan). Before coming to the Asian, Adamjee worked in the Islamic department at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Adamjee’s key interests lie in the intersections of art and culture and in connections between the past and our present. A specialist in Indian and Persian paintings, she has written, lectured, and organized exhibitions on subjects as diverse as Islamic art, Hindu and Sikh art, 19th-century photography, painting, and prints, Indian paintings, sculpture, and contemporary art. -

Foreword Improvement in delivery of affordable quality healthcare is a clear development challenge to address the needs of the base of the pyramid (BoP) population. Over the last few years, there has been an emergence of innovative self-sustainable, ‘inclusive business models’ and India is emerging as the hub of such innovations which cater to the healthcare needs at the BoP. Some of these are working directly with the BoP segment whereas others are working in partnership with Governments and/or part of Government healthcare schemes to maximize reach and impact. -
Case Studies on Industry Academia Collaboration 2013
Note In a country the size of India, with 28 states and 7 Union territories, geographical spread of 3,287,240 square kilometers and a population of 1.2 billion, there are myriad interactions taking place at various levels. Our country has the third largest higher education system in the world, after the US and China, with more than 600 universities and over 35,000 colleges. The Gross En- rolment Ratio in higher education has increased from 12 per cent till five years back to roughly 18 per cent now. There are centrally funded institutes, state-run universities, state-legislated private universities and various autonomous institutes. There is good work going on at various places, at various levels. While policy makers grapple with numbers and remain focused on the larger picture, it is essential to also look at each part of the jigsaw puzzle closely, minutely and analyse how the systems are working at the micro level. In the area of industry-academia collaboration, there can be no denying that a lot needs to be done. But that does not mean that a lot is not taking place already. While it is essential to debate and discuss how things can be improved, it is also essential to document how things are at present. This report is a first in a series of case studies which the Ministry of Human Resource Development will be bringing out, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), examining how industry interactions are taking place at different institutes. In this report we have looked at select Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)--IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Madras, IIT-Delhi and National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (Surathkal). -

AJF Volume 1 Issue 1 2016 Amity Journal of Finance 1(1), (176-186) ©2016 ADMAA The Acquisition of Patni Computer Systems Limited Puneet Dublish Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida, India (Received 23/06/2015 ; Accepted: 04/07/2016) Abstract The case study ‘The Acquisition of Patni Computer Systems Limited’ analyzes the acquisition of Patni Computers, India’s sixth largest business solution provider and IT services company on January 10, 2011 by iGate Corporation, an IT-ITES listed on NASDAQ. This acquisition was the second largest in terms of deal value which stood at US$ 1.2 billion. The deal in this sector was unique as iGATE acquired Patni which was more than double its size and had to take a debt of US$ 700 million to finance this acquisition. To make the acquisition successful, the iGATE management has to overcome several challenges. This case has been written from information available in the public domain mostly from the Economic Times and others as mentioned under references, for class room discussion to highlight various aspects of mergers and acquisitions like regulatory, valuation and financing, takeover, delisting, sources of value creation/synergy and post-acquisition integration. Further through this case a student will be required to explore the valuation deal (overvalued or undervalued) and post-acquisition integration performance.
