Shanna (Zolman) Crossley: Legend on and Off the Court By Rich Sapper, MAB Monthly Staff Writer (reprinted from Indiana Basketball Magazine)

In the annuals of high school sports history in Indiana, it seems that the most compelling stories always come from the small towns. Sure the big cities have their share of press and there seem to be more state champions and top tier athletes in and around Marion County than anywhere else in the state, but it is the small town stories that really capture the imagination. Wasn‟t the fact the Milan High School was David to Muncie Central‟s Goliath the reason why the story is still told to this day? MAB MONTHLY Page 7

5) ECC -2007 (23-3) – State Champs (Coach Pete Trgovich)- The Cardinals were led by E‟twaun Moore and a cast of eight solid seniors. Junior Big Men Angel Garcia (Memphis) and Kawann Short (Purdue Football) had monster championship games as the Cardinals revenged in early season loss to Eric Gordon and North Central.

2) ECR 1970- (28-0) State Champs (Coach Bill Holzbach)- Rough Rider Faithful will argue their case as well. Not many can argue that the legendary Jim Bradley was a great player. He was the “Magic Johnson” before Magic Johnson. Bradley went on to Northern Illinois and then to the NBA and ABA. Big Men John Davis (Loyola) and Napoleon Brand- ford (Nevada and USC) also were standouts. The backcourt was led by Cavanaugh Gary (Indiana State) and Jim Rossi (Montana Tech).

The cupboard has been bare for this program for the last two seasons, winning just 6 games combined. It is often said that in the coaching world, if you stick around long enough you will reach a milestone or two. Of course, to stick around, you have to be an outstanding coach, have the respect of your players and the community, extreme patience and have some great people around you.
