Sob os ditames do agronegócio, o suco de laranja tornou-se commodity e a produção nacional dessa fruta articulou-se de forma a atender aos interesses do grande capital, representado pelas indústrias processadoras da bebida, monopolizando o mercado e exercendo forte controle sobre o setor. Neste contexto, a Microrregião Geográfica de Jales foi inserida no circuito espacial do capital vinculado à citricultura, embora a maior parte de sua produção de laranja seja vendida in natura no mercado interno, entendida como estratégia para “driblar” o monopólio das indústrias processadoras, sobretudo pelos camponeses produtores de laranja, mas não escapando à apropriação da renda da terra pelo capital presente na circulação desta mercadoria. Partindo de tais pressupostos, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de apropriação da renda da terra pelo capital no circuito espacial de produção de laranja na Microrregião Geográfica de Jales.
