Clare Four times each year, at our quarterly ‘Obit’ services in St David George’s Chapel, we commemorate and give thanks for the Founder and Benefactors of the College of St George. As we do Photographs: so, we remember all those “who helped to create and establish St George’s House as a centre of learning and study”. We are reminded at each ‘Obit’ observation of the significant part that St George’s House has played in the history of the College. During 2016, as you will see from what follows in this Review, we were delighted to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the House by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and Dean Robin Woods. During the past year, we have been especially mindful of the vision, imagination, and profound concern to help build a better world that were at the beginning, and have remained through the years, the inspiration of the architects of the St George’s House wide-ranging programme.

  • His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales Ms Meghan Markle
The Marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales with Ms Meghan Markle at St.George’s Chapel Windsor Castle Saturday, 19¥ May, 2018 12 Noon The following Pastoral Introduction is taken from Common Worship: WEDDING is one of life ’s great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy. St John tells us how Jesus sAhared in such an occasion at Cana, and gave there a sign of new beginnings as he turned water into wine. Marriage is intended by God to be a creative relationship, as his blessing enables husband and wife to love and support each other in good times and in bad, and to share in the care and upbringing of children. For Christians, marriage is also an invitation to share life together in the spirit of Jesus Christ. It is based upon a solemn, public and life-long covenant between a man and a woman, declared and celebrated in the presence of God and before witnesses. On this their wedding day the bride and bridegroom face each other, make their promises and receive God ’s blessing. You are witnesses of the marriage, and express your support by your presence and your prayers. Your support does not end today: the couple will value continued encouragement in the days and years ahead of them. There is an induction loop in the Chapel to assist users of hearing aids. Users should turn their hearing aid to the setting marked T . Please ensure all mobile phones, pagers, and other electronic devices are switched off .

June 1, 2015 To Senators Sherrod Brown, Jack Reed, Charles Schumer, Robert Menendez, Jon Tester, Jeff Merkley, Mark Warner, Elizabeth Warren, Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Donnelly: Thank you for opposing the deceptively named Financial Regulatory Improvement Act. While the proponents of this legislation claim to be concerned about the needs of small community banks, the bill itself reads more like a deregulatory wish list for big banks and other large financial players. It was deeply worrisome to see a majority of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs voting for this measure. But we were heartened by your opposition, and we wanted to let you know, and urge you to do everything you can to work for a safer, fairer, and more accountable financial system. ST GEORGE’S HOUSE Annual Review 2014-15 nurturing wisdom ST GEORGE’S HOUSE contents 1 Foreword 2 The Warden’s Report 4 The Ethics of Spying - 2015 Annual Lecture given by The Rt Hon. The Lord Butler of Brockwell, KG, GCB, CVO, PC 10 Programme Report 2014-15 12 Trustees Report 14 Financial Statement 16 Council Membership 17 Corporate Associates nurturing wisdom Front cover: photograph - Doug Harding Foreword by The Right Reverend David Conner KCVO Dean of Windsor I finished my Foreword to last year’s Annual Review by saying that St George’s House is “an institution with which I am proud to be associated”. In his Report (later in this Review) the Warden of St George’s House writes of “the active assistance Clare we receive in so many ways from members of the David College community”. He says that this “reinforces the House’s position as part of the greater College Photographs: of St George”. I think that support given to the House by members of the St George’s community in general is a sign of the fact that we are all proud to be associated with the House and with its aims. Living and working as we do within the Castle walls, it would be excusable if we were sometimes to feel cut off from the so-called ‘real world’. Our meeting with so many of that ‘real world’s’ representatives, when they come to participate in one or other of our consultations, reminds us that we are making a much-valued contribution to the well-being of wider society.
