  • Najam Sethi's Editorials
Najam Sethi’s Editorials (Volume 7) From Blunderland to Plunderland and Back Pakistan under Nawaz Sharif, 2013 - Continue By Najam Sethi Volume: 7: From Blunderland to Plunderland and Back - Pakistan under Nawaz Sharif, 2013 - Continue Old and new scripts May 24-30, 2013 - Vol. XXV, No. 15 The people of Pakistan have posed an existential challenge to the five political parties - the PPP, PMLN, MQM, PTI and ANP - that define and dominate the country's political system. How these parties rise or fall will determine not just their own future but also that of Pakistan. The PPP has been reduced from being a populist anti-establishment national party to a pro-establishment regional party. The challenge before it in the next five years is to rise like a phoenix from the ashes and reinvent itself as a mainstream contender for power under a dynamic new leadership. This is no mean task, given the paucity of leaders and ideas in the party. After leaving the Presidency in September, Mr Asif Zardari is expected to make way for Bilawal Bhutto. But the lad won't be ready to don the mantle of the sole spokesman for many years. Worse, because of continuing neglect and sore disappointment, the ideological PPP voter, rich or poor, has drifted into the camp of the PMLN and PTI in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Wooing it back won't be easy. The PMLN has been upgraded from being a pro-establishment conservative Punjab party into a populist, even anti-establishment, national ruling party with alliance partners in every province.

  • Reham Khan (Memoir)
Reham Khan (memoir) Reham Khanâ™s memoir of married life with Pakistanâ™s new PM is compelling â“ but should be taken with a pinch of salt. Sonali Kokra. September 3, 2018. The first half of Reham Khan's memoir focuses on her own life, the second half deals with her perception of Imran's. Photo / Supplied. Much ink has been spilled in the media, particularly across India and Pakistan, in the run-up to the release of 45-year-old Reham Khanâ™s self-titled memoir (read our interview with her here). Reham Khan was married to the celebrity cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan for a year in 2015. She self-published her memoir in the summer of 2018, revealing facets of her relationship with Imran Khan and the murky world of Pakistan politics to which she has had a ringside view, taking the world by storm. This edition of her much-discussed book now makes her incredible story available to readers in the Indian Subcontinent. Despite all that Reham Reham Khan is a 2018 controversial memoir written by Reham Khan. She is the former wife of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. It was published on July 10, 2018 before Pakistani general election, 2018. The book was published by the SK Publications in Pakistan and HarperCollins Publishers in India. Reham called Imran Khan free-loader as he never bought any vegetables. Instead, he got them free from political colleagues like Jahangir Khan Tareen and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary. Other allegations revolve Of course, there is much reason to speculate as to why Reham Khan has decided to go public with her tell-all memoir now.

  • Imran Khan's Shine Won't Last As Pakistan's Prime Minister
View this email in your browser Dedicated to Democratic Ideals, a progressive and politically stable Pakistan, and strong US-Pakistan relations. induspk.org Subscribe INDUS Newsletter Imran Khan’s Shine Won’t Last as Pakistan’s Prime Minister Michael Kugelman Michael Kugelman is a member of the INDUS Academia & Scholars Panel. ARGUMENT On March 25, 1992, Pakistan experienced one of the greatest moments in its history. Playing before a crowd of nearly 90,000 people on a pitch in Australia, Pakistan’s national cricket team defeated England to win the sport’s world cup. For the first time in its 45-year existence, cricket-mad Pakistan was the champion of the world. Back home, euphoric Pakistanis poured out of their homes to celebrate. It was, in the wordsof cricket writer Mohammad Ramis, “the jubilation of their lives.” Pakistan’s squad was led by 40-year-old team captain Imran Khan, a star batter and bowler then in the twilight of an illustrious career. Fast-forward to today. Khan, now a star politician, is poised to become Pakistan’s next prime minister after his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party triumphed in elections last week. Khan has now pulled off an exceedingly rare feat: He has achieved the highest possible level of success as both an athlete and a politician. Many top (and mediocre) sportspersons have gone into politics, but precious few have gone on to lead governments. As the New York Times has noted, the best analogue to Khan is George Weah: a Liberian soccer star in the 1990s who was elected president in 2017.

Literature has avalanche of the widespread genre which is always subject to precisely apprehend and assimilate. Biography and autobiography are the two different genres of literature. The life of an individual is full of sweet and bitter experiences. There are incidences in an individual’s life which he or she never wants to share with anybody. Politicians, Rulers, Socialites, Movie Stars and other public personalities are also normal human beings. They too have their personal share of problems in their lives and in an attempt to resolve those issues they sometimes commit mistakes and even crimes which they never want anyone to know. Sometimes they commit these mistakes, misdemeanours, felonies or crimes because of their lustful desires or inclinations. The present paper is a result of interest and curiosity to know if individuals share such information in their autobiographies.
