Summer 2016

Dear Members,

Each year, on the holiest day of the Jewish year, we remember our beloved departed at a special service. Called Yizkor, this Yom Kippur afternoon service is our communal opportunity to recall our loved ones and to reflect on the lives they led. We think of all they meant to us. Our service includes beautiful music and the recitation of the names of those who have passed away since last Yom Kippur.

And every year as a way to memorialize all of our loved ones we publish a special booklet that contains the names of all of our departed loved ones. This booklet is passed out just prior to the beginning of the Yizkor Service. Every member of Temple is invited to remember their beloved departed by placing their names in the booklet.

There is no charge for inclusion in the Memorial Booklet, but it is our hope that each family that chooses to submit names will make a donation to the Temple in their memory. This is one of the ways we honor our departed. Not only is this a mitzvah, but giving tzedakah is an important element of the High Holy Day season.

A form is included in our newsletter for your convenience. Please enter the names asyou wish them to appear in the booklet and return the form to the Temple office by Tuesday, September 20.

We pray that the memories of our beloved departed will always be remembered for good, and that they will rest in peace.

Rabbi
