Frequently Asked Questions High School Athletics The following document is provided to address questions that parents, teachers, and students may have regarding EMS ISD High School Athletics for the 2020-2021 school year. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions and responses below for details. What are the health safety protocols for student athletes? We will comply with the UIL requirements including social distancing, sanitizing, and disinfecting equipment, practicing good personal hygiene such as frequent hand washing, and wearing face coverings. Students will not be required to wear face coverings when they are actively working out or playing their sport, but will wear face coverings when not active or during transitions to/from the activity. All students must bring a mask or cloth face covering (no shields); if a student arrives without a mask, one will be provided. Depending on their sport, students may make physical contact with one another during active activity. We will make every reasonable effort to maintain distance and minimize contact. Are the coaches being screened for COVID-19? EMS ISD requires all teachers and staff to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming onto campus each day. The self-screening includes teachers/staff taking their own temperatures. Employees must report to their principal or supervisor if they have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, or if they have had close contact with an individual who is lab- confirmed with COVID-19. If any of the above exits, they must remain off campus until they meet the criteria for returning in person. How will students be screened for illness or COVID-19? Parents MUST ensure they DO NOT send their child to school on campus for any activity if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is lab-confirmed with COVID-19.

The old Stephen F. Austin Hotel, where I stayed for the first five years at the tournament was remodeled and renamed. The cost became outrageous there, so we no longer enjoyed staying downtown. Today the Hotel is called InterContinental Stephen F. Austin. Visiting Sixth street became popular and I continued to eat at the Waterloo Ice House. The main attraction in those days was playing at Gregory Gym on the campus of U.T. We always had great pickup games at the student activity center, located right next to Gregory. Jogging was also another passion of mine. Town Lake provided great running trails just south of downtown Austin. Coaching clinics became the norm, as I continued to learn the game. Great times. The person who had the greatest impact on my life was my brother-in-law. This book is dedicated to him. At the age of 10, he began coming over to the house dating my older sister. He was like a family member. For the next twenty years he influenced all aspects of my life.

Comparison of Dual Credit Population's Ethnicity Distribution to High School Population's Ethnicity Distribution Ethnicity distributions for TCC's partner high schools were obtained using the 2016-2017 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). These high school ethnicity distributions were compared to TCC's 2016-2017 dual credit ethnicity distribution. For high schools with more than 100 dual credit students, a disparity measure was calculated to determine high schools with the largest differences (Figure 1). Among these high schools, Lamar, Juan Sequin, James Bowie, and Kennedale were the top four with the largest differences (Figure 2). For the safety of all participants and the ability of the athletic activity to continue without interruption, it is important that parents partner with us to ensure that their child is well and demonstrates NO symptoms. Students who exhibit symptoms on campus will be isolated from others and a parent will be notified to pick up the child immediately.
