Instead, thousands of educa- tors rallied at the state capitol in Frankfort to protest various budget proposals which may have cut funding for public education. All 120 school districts in the commonwealth were shut down either because of spring break or relating to the statewide protest. Boone teachers were among the crowds rallying against the pro- posed budget cuts that might have left Boone County Schools insol- vent by 2019, according to a report by the Kentucky Department of Education.
