Leanne M Harris B.A. (Hons) Headteacher

Monday 11th June – Friday 15th June 2018

Next week we are hosting a healthy living week and promoting to the children how important it is to exercise, eat healthy foods, think positively and generally feel good.

There are several activities that have been organised including a visit from the world class athlete Serita Solomon. Serita (born 1 March 1990) is a British athlete competing in the hurdles. She was the bronze medallist in the at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2015. She holds a personal best of 12.87 seconds for the outdoor hurdles and represented England in that event at the .

The run down for the week includes:

Monday(11th June) – KS2 Judo taster sessions Tuesday (12th June) – KS2 sessions in our new sensory room Wednesday (13th June) – Whole school orienteering taster sessions Thursday (14th June) - Whole school athlete visit and fitness sessions Friday (15th June) – KS2 Mindfulness taster sessions and KS1 sessions in our new sensory room Tuesday, 19th June – KS1 Mindfulness taster sessions. (We are hoping to book in KS1 Judo sessions too but this is still being confirmed)

Each morning Mr Lynch will also be running his ‘Fit to learn’ sessions on the main playground so please encourage the children to take part. Individual classes will be doing additional activities and if any parents have a particular interest / job that involves anything with ‘healthy living’ we would be really pleased for you to take part in some way. Please contact the class teacher if you can help out.

On Thursday, 14th June all children can come to school in their sports gear and trainers so they can take part in the fitness sessions. For the rest of the week, it would be useful for the children from Year 1 onwards to have their PE kit in school every day.

We hope the children get a lot out of the week and are encouraged to have healthy lives which include exercise, healthy eating, positive thinking and generally feeling good!

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Harris
