Saint Paul – On Thursday, January 15th and Friday, January 16th, Governor Pawlenty will be in Washington, DC to attend a meeting of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), to which President Bush appointed him. The Governor will be meeting with representatives of the Food and Drug Administration to discuss prescription drug importation. In addition, he has meetings with staff at the White House to discuss issues important to Minnesota.

Governor Pawlenty will hold a conference call from Washington, DC at 8:00 a.m. central standard time on Friday, January 16th. A separate media advisory will be released with call-in information.

The Governor’s Friday radio show, “Good Morning Minnesota” on WCCO-AM will be hosted this week by U.S. Senator Norm Coleman.

Mrs. Lagergren is the sister of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, whose courageous actions saved tens of thousands of Hungarians from death toward the end of WWII. Although the Nazis tried to eliminate him, Wallenberg survived, only to be arrested by Soviet troops. Raoul Wallenberg was never seen alive again. October 5 is the day Raoul Wallenberg was named an honorary citizen of the United States.

3:00 p.m. CET – Lomianki Governor and First Lady Pawlenty join the Mayor of Lomianki, Poland, in a ceremony at a memorial honoring the crew of a U.S. B-17 that was shot down while supporting the Polish Uprising in September 1944. One of the crew who died in the incident was from Columbia Heights, Minnesota.
