Situation (distances approximate) Located in the heart of the much sought-after area of South Devon known as the South Hams, Dartmouth is a beautiful waterside town particularly well known as a sailing centre with its excellent facilities for yachtsmen and its famous annual Royal Regatta. Warfl eet Creek is a small tidal inlet located about half a mile from the town centre and a short stroll from Dartmouth castle, one of the most picturesquely sited fortresses in England and Gallants Bower, the site of a Royalist fort built during the English Civil War and now owned by the National Trust. Communication links are good with the A38 Devon Expressway 20 miles to the north and the M5 motorway at Exeter. Railway links to London Paddington can be made locally at Totnes, about 13 miles to the north (London Paddington 2 hours 50 minutes). Exeter Airport has a growing number of domestic and international fl ights often negating the need to travel to Bristol or the London airports. The local railway line is only used by Brunel’s Steam Railway between Paignton and Kingswear. The sound of the occasional steam engine combined with the charming sound of the recently renovated “Kingswear Castle” paddle steamer creates the most enchanting atmosphere across the Dart Estuary. The town provides a good range of shops, restaurants and galleries and is surrounded by stunning countryside just a short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. There are several excellent golf courses within easy reach. Dartmouth, famous for its historic port and boating amenities, is also home to the Britannia Royal Naval College. The town has excellent facilities for sailing, with deep water moorings, three marinas and a number of boat yards. For the cruising yachtsman Dartmouth is the perfect base from which to explore France, The Channel Islands and the picturesque harbours and creeks of the West Country. Description Creek Cottage is a substantial detached house with wonderful views over the creek, situated just a few yards from the water’s edge and public slipway, where small craft and dinghies can be launched.
