HARD ACES angled inand chased inside then a bit off the rail leaving the backstretch, split horsesa quarter mile out, came three deep into the stretch and edged a rival late forthe place. EFFINEX stalked outside a rival then bid three deep leaving the firstturn, stalked again a half mile out, re-bid three deep on the second turn, hadthe winner slip away leaving that turn, lacked the needed response in thestretch and was edged late for second. IMPERATIVE chased outside a rival, wentthree deep Melatonin midway on the second turn and four wide leaving that turn and intothe stretch and bested the others. POINT PIPER settled inside then outside arival, came out leaving the second turn and five wide into the stretch andimproved position. CLASS LEADER angled in early and saved ground to the stretchto no avail. DONWORTH pulled hard under a hold and stalked inside, tugged hisway up along the rail leaving the backstretch, steadied and clipped heels intothe second turn, remained inside and weakened in the drive. CYRUS ALEXANDERchased off the rail or outside a rival, came out leaving the second turn andfour wide into the stretch and also weakened. GENERAL A ROD dueled outside thewinner then between horses, battled between foes again on the second turn, fellback between rivals leaving that turn and into the stretch and had little leftfor the drive. The stewards conducted an inquiry into the run into the far turnbut made no change when they ruled DONWORTH was the cause of his own trouble.
