Years Of Mustang OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDE Charlotte • las Vegas April 16-20, 2014 50th Mustang Anniversary Celebration WELCOME! Executive Director, I would like to welcome everyone to the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration, powered by the Mustang Club of America. It is our pleasure to have each of you here. We hope you’ll go home from this celebration with memories that will last a lifetime. While you’re here, be aware that this is not just a Mustang car show. This is a very special time in history for every Ford Mustang enthusiast. This Celebration marks 50 years of Ford Mustang. We can all be proud that the focus of our celebration, the Ford Mustang, holds the distinction of being the only American automobile that has been in continuous production for 50 years. That’s why we’re all here today. It’s also the reason why Ford Motor Company has chosen to make this its Mustang 50th Celebration too. For that, we are honored and proud that Ford is joining the MCA in making the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration the greatest Mustang event of the century! Indeed, this is a very historic Mustang celebration. This Mustang celebration is so huge that we’ve had to book it into Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in North Las Vegas, Nevada. On top of that, we were proud to have the “Kick Of Party” in Norman Oklahoma, hosted by the Oklahoma Mustang Club on April 9-12. The Great American Pony Drive got Mustang enthusiasts to Norman and the Mustang 50th Pony Drives took enthusiasts to Charlotte or Las Vegas. By celebrating at all of these locations and along all of these routes, we’re giving everyone in the United States a better chance to celebrate the Mustang’s 50th with us. The Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration has been more than three years in the making. During that time, many people have stepped up and been an important part. So many, in fact, that trying to acknowledge them all would take this entire page. However, one person who deserves recognition is Steve Hall. From the very beginning, Steve has lived the planning and orchestration of Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration right alongside of me. His fingerprints are all over the Celebration, the same as mine. To him, I say, “Thank You, Steve!” for everything! Now we’re finally here. As you look around at all of the beautiful Mustangs that surround you, look a little deeper into the event. You are not only surrounded by thousands of beautiful Mustangs, but you’re surrounded by many of the people who have made the Mustang what it is today. This includes many of the original Ford Mustang Team who were there at the beginning. These people are the ones who made it possible for more than 22,000 Mustangs to be sold on April 17, 1964, to a public that waited at Ford dealerships in long lines over night just so they could buy a Mustang on the first day it was ofered. We also have many of Ford’s Mustang Team of today with us, including engineers and designers of today’s and tomorrow’s Ford Mustangs. We also have the racers, the sales people, the dealers, and many enthusiasts of the new Mustang generation with us. These are the people who will carry the Mustang brand forward to the 75th and the 100th anniversaries, starting with the new ’15 Mustang. All of these people, from the past as well as the present, have come to be with us during this once in a lifetime experience. We owe them so much, for without them, there would be no Ford Mustang, Mustang Nation, or Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration. In closing, it’s amazing that there have been 50 continuous years of Ford Mustang and that the Mustang is still one of, if not the, most popular cars in the world. If you’re at all like me, the Mustang is more than just a car. It’s a lifestyle that I am very proud to be a part of. I also want everyone to know that it is indeed a privilege to be the Executive Director of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration! Again, I hope that everyone who has come to celebrate with us has a great time and lifetime memories of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration. Kindest Regards, Ronald D. Bramlett Executive Director Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration 4 50th Mustang Anniversary Celebration WELCOME! my pleasure, on behalf of the Ford Family and everyone at Ford Motor Company, to welcome you to this great celebration of the Ford Mustang. “What was your favorite Mustang?” You hear people say that all the time. Everyone here for this celebration has one. Whether it be the story of the first Mustang you saw on the lot of a Ford dealership, or cruising by on the street, or the classic Mustang you saw at a show like this and always wanted. There are as many favorite Mustang stories as there were built over the last 50 years. I, too, have a favorite Mustang. I remember fondly the ’65 Mustang GT Fastback my father bought me for my 16th birthday. I think about the legendary names that have been part of Mustang’s history. Our cars: The Bosses, King Cobra, SVT Cobra, SVO, Bullitt, Mach I, FR500, GT 500, Cobra Jet; the Shelby cars: GT 350, GT 500, GT 350-H, GT 500KR; Roush; Steeda; Saleen. Legendary racing names, close friends like Carroll Shelby, Mickey Thompson, Jack Roush, Bud Moore, and Bob Tasca, along with legendary race drivers Parnelli Jones, George Follmer, Scott Pruett, Tommy Kendall, John Force, Bob Glidden, Dan Gurney, Jerry Titus, and so many more. For all of us, the memories of Mustangs are certainly a big part of our passion for this car. Afer all, this is a car that has become ingrained, not just in American car culture, but in American culture itself. And the latest—the ’15 Mustang—is now ready to take its rightful place in the line of legends. So please enjoy yourself at this celebration of the Mustang. We’re happy you’re here. And we know, before you leave, you’ll have another Mustang story to tell. Enjoy! Edsel B.
