NO GLASS bottles permitted MFC is not responsible for cars parked inside ground. PARK AT OWN RISK. MAITLAND FC SPONSORS Email: [email protected] Facebook: Maitland Fc Website: maitlandfc.com.au Instagram: @maitland_fc Twitter: @Maitlandfc #maitlandmagpies #MFC WELCOME TO COOKS SQUARE A warm welcome today to Cooks Square Park to the families and supporters of both Maitland FC and Lambton Jaffas FC for what will be our first NPL home game for 2019 following the welcome, but untimely rain that caused Round 2 to be postponed. A warm welcome to our wonderful sponsors and to the “MOB” for our first Sponsor & Old Boys Day for 2019. We continue to be very proud of the condition of the playing field surface here at Cooks Square Park, thanks to the underground irrigation installed by Maitland City Council in 2017. As a result of our success with the NSW Asian Cup 2015 Legacy Fund, some well overdue infrastructure improvements have been completed. The new perimeter fence and player shelters have changed the look of the park and with additional seating and shelter, Cooks Square is much better prepared for some quality NPL football. Maitland Football extends congratulations to Jenny Aitchison, MP, for retaining her seat of Maitland in the recent State Election. We now wait in anticipation of the May Federal Election following the announcement from Meryl Swanson, MP, Member for Paterson, who secured a commitment from her Canberra Party Office to spend $1 million on Cooks Square Park provided Labor wins the Federal Election and Meryl Retains her seat. The milestone comes as part of a partnership between the club and the pub which includes a dedicated monthly Joker Draw opportunity donated to community groups by hoteliers Dan and Janine Redman. “Every month local non-profit organisations are given an opportunity to take turns hosting our Joker Draw” Janine said. “We put up the jackpot, but it is up to the non-profit group to sell tickets, promote their cause and get people to come along and participate. Maitland Football Club is a perfect example of how, when we work together, the hotel can provide a perfect platform for community support.” Over the past 14 years, Maitland Football Club has been a participant in the George’s Joker Draw and has currently raised a total of $99,925, an amount expected to exceed $100,000 at Wednesday night’s draw. “This is incredible for our club and we can’t thank Janine, Dan and the George Tavern enough,” club spokesperson Chris Rafferty said. “In addition to the hotel putting up the jackpot, I think the best thing about this is that all the funding came from the community. It was the locals who put that money up and helped us achieve so much. “Our Youth Development program has been the major focus for funding from the initiative and it has allowed us to provide more equipment to improve the quality of the training sessions for our youth play- ers.” Janine said the milestone was indicative of the Maitland community’s sentiment toward local non-profit groups and sporting teams. “We have some of the most generous and giving patrons and that really is a reflection of the Maitland community as a whole. We are very lucky to be in a place like Maitland.” In 2016, the George Tavern was also presented with the prestigious Australian Hotels Association NSW, Heart of the Community award for its dedication to fundraising initiatives. A total of 737 clubs entered the FFA Cup 2019, a number that has significantly grown from the first edition of the FFA Cup in 2014, when 617 clubs entered. The FFA Cup 2019 started in February with the Preliminary Rounds to determine the 21 clubs from the semi-professional and amateur tiers. These clubs joined ten of the Hyundai A-League clubs (Western United FC will not participate in this edition) and the reigning National Premier Leagues Champions (Campbelltown City SC) in the Final Rounds. The FFA Cup Final 2019 will be played on Wednesday 23 October with the host city to be determined by a live draw. Each cup tie must be decided on the day, with extra time to decide results of matches drawn after 90 minutes, followed by penalties if required. At least one Member Federation club is guaranteed to progress to the Semi Finals. Previous winners of the FFA Cup are Adelaide United (2014 and 2018), Melbourne Victory (2015), Melbourne City FC (2016) and Sydney FC (2017). Broadcast partners – FOX SPORTS FOX SPORTS will again provide comprehensive coverage of the FFA Cup 2019 Final Rounds.
