Because they do." - Allen Iverson Hampton Roads, VA – Always Impressive (A.I.) Enterprises presents the Inaugural Allen Iverson Roundball Classic, April 19th-21st, 2017 in Hampton Roads. Taking the game back to his roots, Iverson welcomes 24 of the nation’s top high school seniors to an unforgettable three-day event designed to drive brotherhood, leadership, and the true meaning of “PRACTICE” into these future superstars! The classic tips off with a Three-Point Shootout and Slam Dunk Contest at Iverson's alma mater, Bethel High School, Wednesday, April 19th in Hampton Roads. On Thursday, April 20th, Iverson will host an Awards Banquet and present the first recipient of the Allen Iverson National Player of the Year Award. The main event, the All-American game, commences April 21st at Churchland High School in Portsmouth. “I believe that the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic will be a positive contribution to the rising youth in the world of basketball!”, shares Iverson. As a 2016 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Iverson continues to be an exemplary role model to aspiring basketball stars around the world. This event will be unique as these talented young men will perform at their highest levels in front of Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson himself. “This is unlike anything you have ever seen before, simply because it has a key element that no other event has ever had,” said Bobby Bates, C.E.O. of A.I. Enterprises, “and that’s Allen Iverson!”. No ICONIC athlete has ever made himself directly accessible to today's youth in a magnitude such as this. Like so many times in his stellar career, Allen is stepping outside the box and changing the culture of basketball. Another Hampton Roads (757) professional athlete, Antoine Bethea and the Shutdown Academy understand the value that the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic brings to the local community and the sports world as a whole. All-Star level sponsor Bethea affirmed this is another opportunity to empower our youth. ### FACTS SHEET About Allen Iverson Allen Iverson is a native of Hampton, Virginia. There aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am to you for helping me navigate this thesis. Dad – thank you for helping me find my love of basketball, without you I would have never found my passion. • Renormalizing Individual Performance Metrics for Cultural Heritage Management of Sports Records
Renormalizing individual performance metrics for cultural heritage management of sports records Alexander M. Petersen1 and Orion Penner2 1Management of Complex Systems Department, Ernest and Julio Gallo Management Program, School of Engineering, University of California, Merced, CA 95343 2Chair of Innovation and Intellectual Property Policy, College of Management of Technology, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland. (Dated: April 21, 2020) Individual performance metrics are commonly used to compare players from different eras. However, such cross-era comparison is often biased due to significant changes in success factors underlying player achievement rates (e.g. performance enhancing drugs and modern training regimens). Such historical comparison is more than fodder for casual discussion among sports fans, as it is also an issue of critical importance to the multi- billion dollar professional sport industry and the institutions (e.g. Hall of Fame) charged with preserving sports history and the legacy of outstanding players and achievements. To address this cultural heritage management issue, we report an objective statistical method for renormalizing career achievement metrics, one that is par- ticularly tailored for common seasonal performance metrics, which are often aggregated into summary career metrics – despite the fact that many player careers span different eras. Remarkably, we find that the method applied to comprehensive Major League Baseball and National Basketball Association player data preserves the overall functional form of the distribution of career achievement, both at the season and career level. As such, subsequent re-ranking of the top-50 all-time records in MLB and the NBA using renormalized metrics indicates reordering at the local rank level, as opposed to bulk reordering by era.

  • Dwight Howard / Orlando Magic
Dwight Howard / Orlando Magic When he was 14-years-old, Dwight Howard made a goal —be selected as the no. 1 pick in the NBA draft. In the 2004, Dwight accomplished this goal when he was drafted no. 1 overall by the Orlando Magic, beginning his road to superstardom in the National Basketball Association. After becoming the youngest player ever to average a double-double in his rookie season, he’s been a five-time NBA All-Star, three- time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, four-time All-NBA and All-Defensive team member and the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner. Widely considered the best big man in the game, he is consistently among league leaders in rebounds, blocks, field goal percentage and scoring. His play has helped lead the Magic to a franchise record five straight postseason appearances, three division titles and their first NBA Finals appearance in more than 10 years. Howard gained national recognition while attending Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Over his four-year high school career, he averaged 16.6 points, 13.4 rebounds and 6.3 blocks and lead his team to a state title. He was bestowed with all major high school awards that year including McDonald’s National High School Player of the Year, Gatorade National Player of the Year, Morgan Wootten High School Player of the Year and the Naismith Prep Player of the Year. Raised as a devout Christian by parents Dwight Sr. and Sheryl Howard, Dwight Jr. views his basketball career as much more than an opportunity for money and fame.

AT&T* is broadening its collaborative partnership the NBA and WNBA as the Official 5G Innovation Partner of the NBA and WNBA. The partnership, which began in 2019, will continue to build fan-first experiences that enhance both the in-venue and at-home sports experience for fans. First, AT&T is exploring a series of game-changing augmented reality concepts for fans within the WNBA app. A prototype being concepted would allow WNBA fans to track their favorite teams and players, participate in a fun bracket-style game, and send or share some of their favorite milestones directly to friends, family or on social media. Looking to the future, AT&T will continue to develop future iterations and is excited to explore many more fan experiences within applications, online and other second-screen mediums to bring fans closer to their favorite games and athletes. What are people saying? Now more than ever, 5G, AR and immersive technology are playing a bigger role in sports. “Leveraging the speed, low latency, and compute power of 5G provides us the opportunity to be even more creative in how we enhance the fan experience,” said David Christopher, executive vice president and general manager, partnerships and 5G ecosystem development. “By unlocking more viewing options, next generation game replay and data, real-time social-first 3D content, and immersive player interaction, fans have the ability to tailor and view their content in unique, curated ways they couldn’t do before.” “The NBA remains focused on providing fans around the world with greater access to the game of basketball wherever they are,” said Steve Hellmuth, NBA Executive Vice President of Media Operations & Technology.
