Designers who are limited to those techniques cannot help the Earth's resources last. But those who consider "emergy" may be able to, said Wilfred Roudebush, an architect and assistant professor of construction systems at the University. Most architects consider how much energy is used to produce ce- ment or cut down trees and haul them to a site, but they do not yet consider the quality of the energy. Roudebush said.
