You’re invited to join us on Wednesdays, at 11:45 AM, as Deb Kuntz (a St. Anthony’s parishioner and certified instructor) leads us in a stretching and strength class. JOB OPENING: MUSIC & LITURGY COORDINATOR We are looking for a full-time Music and Liturgy Coordinator! Music responsibilities include scheduling of all music ministers, planning music for liturgies– including weddings and funerals, as well as providing any piano or organ needed, and direction of choirs. Liturgy responsibilities include scheduling of all liturgical ministers for the Masses, beautification of the church, coordination of the Eucharistic Adoration schedule, providing intercessions for the prayers of the faithful at Mass, and maintaining an inventory of sacristy items. Piano skills are required, and basic organ skills preferred. Qualified candidates will also have a B.A. in Music or a B.S. in Music Ed.     ORACLE The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity WINTER 2018 Formation ABROAD fmfrom tethehehe rectector spirit-filled evangelization My dear friends, In a new Apostolic Constitution entitled Veritatis Gaudium (The Joy of Truth), which is directed toward ecclesiastical universities and faculties, our Holy Father calls for a “bold cultural revolution.” He says, “The primary need today is for the entire people of God to be ready to embark upon a new stage of ‘spirit-filled’ evangelization. This ‘spirit-filled’ evangelization envisions ‘a resolute process of discernment, purification, and reform.’ The proclamation of the Gospel and the Church’s doctrine are called to permeate ‘a culture of encounter.’” Our Holy Father recognizes that the future of the Church is in her youth. We must learn from the past and water and nourish, with passionate dedication, the roots that the Second Vatican Council sunk into the earth to hold the Church firm against confusion and chaos. Therefore, we must be unafraid when confronted with vistas uncontemplated, even unimaginable to the Fathers of the Council, to graft creatively a new shoot on the old stock. Young people today do not want to live on the surface. They do not look for quick or ready answers; they seek Gospel clarity that calls for truth, charity and pastoral care. The adventure of orthodoxy, as St. John Paul II taught us, is what attracts young people today. It is the challenge of fidelity, integrity, authenticity and solidarity – the joy of the Gospel – the joy of truth. This is essential for a Church that goes forth. The Holy Father’s clarion call for a radical paradigm shift – a “bold cultural revolution” – demands of us great patience in order to develop the docility, creativity and availability needed to embrace God’s will and begin again in earnest with “spirit-filled evangelization.” Every January, our seminarians set out on a mission with this same spirit of evangelization.

This Report is about the two rivers of Native American Catholic faith and cultures that flow into one. In this report you will find an updated study from CARA concerning the state of Native American Ministry, both in terms of challenges and opportunities. The Report also examines the gifts of Catholic Native American ministry. Last the report includes a list of recommen- dations by the Subcommittee on Native American Affairs based on the information from the CARA study. In 2016, CARA conducted an exhaustive study on the cultural family groups for the Secretariat on Cultural Diversity, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Words alone cannot express my thanks For my first column as Bishop of Fargo, I share with you the message of gratitude I expressed at the end of my Mass of ordination and installation. Bishop John Folda Praised be Jesus Christ! Now and forever! Your Excellency, Archbishop Nienstedt, Archbishop Aquila, Bishop Kagan, and dear brother bishops, dear brother priests, deacons, seminarians, consecrated religious, and dear friends in Christ: I am overwhelmed by the many blessings that have come to me this day. I must first give thanks to God for the gift of faith and his loving invitation to share in his divine life. And not only did he see fit to bless me with this faith, but he also called me to the sacred priesthood, and now inexplicably to the office of Bishop. For such a gift, I can only bow in humble gratitude. Archbishop Nienstedt, thank you for being with us today and celebrating this beautiful liturgy of ordination. Your words will always remain with me as I reflect on this day and on the awesome responsibility of being a successor of the apostles. Archbishop Aquila, you served the Diocese of Fargo faithfully and zealously for over 10 years, and we are all thankful for the blessing of your time in Fargo. I am personally grateful for your kindness and support over these last weeks as I prepared to begin my own service as bishop here.
