HMP DARTMOOR : VIOLENCE REDUCTION

MISSION STATEMENT:

HMP DARTMOOR is a Category C prison, which holds Vulnerable and Non-Vulnerable prisoners.

Our Mission is to fulfil our duty of care by:

1. Providing a safe and decent environment for staff, prisoners and visitors where everyone feels supported, respected and empowered. 2. Showing concern for prisoners by beginning to assess, identify and, where possible, address individual needs. 3. Embracing change and continuous improvement.

Our aim is to: Encourage a safe environment where people live, work and visit, where prisoners, staff and visitors behave in a fair and decent manner towards each other. Ensure that prisoners, staff and visitors understand that anti-social, threatening, violent or aggressive behaviour towards others will not be tolerated.

We will do this by: Promoting awareness of the strategy to ensure all prisoners, staff and visitors understand and contribute to maintain the standards of pro-social behaviour expected from them. Ensuring that prisoners, staff and visitors are aware of the consequences if they do not adhere to these standards. Informing, supporting, training and equipping staff to recognise and deal effectively with anti-social behaviour.
