Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College of Arts and Science Kayalpatnam Annual Report for the Academic Year 2018 – 2019 Honorable Chief Guest of the day, Esteemed Founder President Alhaj Wavoo S. Seyed Abdur Rahman , Dignified Secretary Alhaj Wavoo M.M. Mohuthazeem, Respected Assistant Secretary Alhaj Alhafil. Wavoo S.A.R. Ahmed Ishaque, Honorable Members of our Trust, Beloved Director Dr. Mercy Henry, our well wishers, dedicated members of the teaching and non-teaching staff and my dear students.

Consious of the hand of God in all our achievements and the joy of having risen to the challenges of the past year successfully, it’s a great privilege to have with us Thiru. Kumar Jayant IAS , Principal Secretary, Government of . I am here to present to you a brief report of the landmarks of our progress during the academic year 2018-2019.

History

Begun twelve years ago with the desire to serve the young women in the locality, Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College has grown in strength and is grounded in its conviction that a women’s greatest asset is her education. Consequently all activities of our college are geared towards the total liberation and development of the whole person of its beneficiars. With excellence as its target, quality as its policy and service to the marginalized as its mission, the college is dedicated to the empowerment of women through quality education and the uplift of the underprivileged with monetary and psychological support.

Education is the key for women to achieve economic independence. Although women in the majority of countries have the right to educate women, equal access to education for women still remains a problem.

For the women who are struggling to access education, and for those who want to end educational inequality, Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College emerged as a diamond to the students of this locality.

At this point I must honor our Founder President Alhaj Wavoo S. Seyed Abdur Rahman emerged as a man of the masses and the voice of the voiceless. His cascading spirit holds intelligence promises and hopes to women’s education.

What was planted as a sapling in the year 2006 with the strength of 124 students and 12 staff now grown out as a banyan tree with the strength of 1,495 students and 69 teaching and 48 non-teaching staff members in 2019. As a Principal of this college, I’m proud to state that so far 2557 students were graduated from this institution till date.

Our students take equal part in the quality journey and their enthusiastic participation in academic ventures.

Infrastructure

The aesthetically designed structure of the college is a faithful reflection of the imagination of our founder, who has long cherished the idea of a unique college in our area. In terms of infrastructure, Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College is one of the best colleges in this locality. It is well sophisticated with 60,000 square feet area. It is built with 3 floors designed for 37 classrooms and it serves as a peaceful and comfortable place for student’s academic pursuits. Separate staff rooms were designed for all the departments. Our college has a wide & vast open play ground with its amenities. We have canteen & adjacent dining hall with a seating capacity of 120 students at a time. We also have separate power generator room with uninterrupted power supply units. The existing infrastructure has been enhanced this year by the construction of a separate PG block with 20,000 square feet which is to function from the next academic year.

If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. The library is the temple of learning, and learning has liberated more people than all the wars in the history. Our college has a well-stocked library with 8,498 books, 15 journals, 25 magazines & newspapers both in Tamil & English. We also provide E- Learning facilities to help students and staff members to enlarge the boundaries of their knowledge. The library association conducted a “Library Awareness Programme” in the ICT Hall. A book fest was organized on 25.02.19 in which many of the latest books were displayed. It was a real feast to the voracious readers.
