Welcome to the Bunny Bulletin The Bunny Bulletin is the Bunny Village monthly magazine. It was founded in September 1998 and is distributed free of charge to every household and business in the Parish of Bunny. It is produced by a team of volunteers and is funded by Bunny Parish Council and advertising. The Editorial Committee is conscious that the population of Bunny is constantly changing and is aware that the sense of community that many of us value is in danger of being lost. By promoting vil- lage activities and events, raising issues that affect the life of the village, giving a voice to Bunny resi- dents and supporting local businesses and trades-people, we hope to foster a sense of belonging in those who live in our village. Each Month our Web Page will give you a Taste of the Content of the Bunny Bulletin by including the Editorial and Information on the Village Events for the Month. The Editorial Well, hello, and welcome to the final edition for 2015. It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes since I sat writ- ing last month’s editorial. This month the countdown to Silly Season really gets underway, and I have barely been home for 5 minutes, it seems, but with relief I have managed to avoid losing tiles, fence panels and no trees have come in through the windows, hopefully you too are in the same boat. I have also cancelled most of my mainland European travels in the aftermath of the awful events in Paris of the last few weeks, so I will at least be able to see you at the Parish supper. After appealing for letters, I have heard reports of a tractor fire (at the end of October) by all accounts, the fire engines were pretty quick to respond. Sarah from the village hall has been in touch to say she has a black ladies coat that was found on the floor near the village hall notice board in mid November. It’s getting colder, so I suspect the owner might be in need of it! If you contact her on 07756053694, you should be able to be reunited. Pat from the ga- rage has also been in contact and would like to thank all the girls for the dressing up in pink, also to Matt for wearing the pink wig on the Saturday, they raised £200.00, also thanks to Lindsey from Brad- more for the pink cup cakes. Another big thank you to the Rancliffe arms for the Halloween party, from all the little ones, and also the big ones, who enjoyed a bit more than the little ones. I have heard whisperings about some elements of the bulletin and what people like and don't like, I am a woman of many talents, alas however, telepathy isn’t one of them, if you want me to change something, please let me know via e-mail or drop a note through my door. I might look a bit intimidating but I don’t bite, honest! All that remains from me are heartfelt seasons greetings, for how- ever and whatever you celebrate, stay safe, and warm and see you soon . Heidi [email protected] Sending copy to the Bunny Bulletin To make my life easier, it would be helpful if Village Groups could: 1. Nominate someone to be responsible for sending copy (advertising meetings and special events) to the Bulletin each month or when ap- propriate. 2. Ensure that someone is responsible for sending in a report after the event (some photos would be a bonus!). Our regular contributors are excellent but, if you are an occasional con- tributor, as a reminder I use Publisher to compile the bulletin - can I re- quest you send information through in a word document or Publisher file. If sending a publisher file can you also send a PDF version Page size: A5 Portrait Line Spacing: Single Do not indent the first line of a new paragraph Case: Main text - lower case, headings upper case Email: [email protected] Why not set up a “Bunny Bulletin” document on your computer with the above layout – A5, Portrait, the correct margin settings etc. You can then use it each time you need to send in an item for publication. This will give you some idea as to how much space your item will take up, don’t forget to allow for illustrations Having said all this, if you are struggling with technology and can’t get someone to show you how, just do your best. Handwritten copy is also welcome, but please make sure that it is legible! Bunny and District Gardeners Forthcoming talks in the Village Hall Bunny 2016 All talks are on Wednesday evening beginning at 7.30pm Date What’s Happening 13 January Barn Owls by Howard Broughton of Rushcliffe Barn Owl Trust 10 February Flowering Trees by Dr Pierce, an expert on trees, particularly flowering ones You are most welcome to attend as a visitor, paying £3 at the door. VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR COMMU- NITY ROAD SAFETY TEAM Some years ago two attempts were made by Bunny Parish Council to set up a Community Speed Watch (CSW) group in Bunny. Each attempt failed due to a shortage of volunteers along with limited support from the local Police. But things have changed! The first change is in the name (CSW to CRS); the second is consider- able enthusiasm on the part of PC Kelly Carlile and her colleagues for supporting the setting up of new CRS groups in local villages; the third is a sharper focus in the village on speeding problems since the introduction of the 30 m.p.h. limit; and the fourth is the availability of new kit (embracing portable interactive speed signs and a speed gun) for the use of CRS teams. Would those who may be interested in helping to improve road safety by joining a new CRS team in Bunny please contact Dick Wil- son at [email protected] BUNNY WOOD CHRISTMAS LOG SALE Do you need logs for firewood? STATE OF POPULISM IN EUROPE: POPULISTS ON HOLIDAY The silly season of the summer had a clear impact on the political landscape of Europe, therefore we can’t observe huge shifts in the support for populist parties in the third quarter of 2017. The situation is more or less similar to the developments of the sec- ond quarter of the year: in the majority of the member states the populist scene is stagnant, but there are a few exceptions, mainly in central Europe. To better understand the processes, this study is analysing not only the events of the last quarter but expand the focus to the entire year.
