Boys aged between 13 and 15 years as on 31 Mar 2020 boys born between 01 April 2005 to 31 March 2007) and studying in VIII std in a recognized School are eligible for admission to Class IX. VACANCIES For Class VI: - 90 Nos (Approx) and for Class IX :- 06 Nos. (Approx). RESERVATION Reservation of Seats for Class VI and Class IX will be as below : (a) 15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7 ½ % seats for Scheduled Tribes. 1 (b) Out of the remaining seats, 67% of the seats will be reserved for boys from the Home State of Tamil Nadu. Balance 33% of left over seats will be thrown open to boys from other States and Union Territories, as per seat quota of respective states. Any unutilized seats in this category will be merged with home State (TN) seats in order of merit. (c) 25% seats in each of 67% and 33% category, are reserved for children of Defence service personnel including Ex-servicemen of that category. Defence means Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION The Entrance Examination will be OMR based Exam system . The Medium of examination for Class VI will be in English, Tamil & Hindi . The Question papers for Class VI will be set in English, Tamil & Hindi. THE QUESTION PAPER FOR CLASS IX WILL BE IN ENGLISH ONLY. In case the Entrance Examination cannot be conducted on account of any administrative problem, a separate order will be issued to conduct the Entrance Examination on any other date as fixed by the Honorary Secretary, Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. WRITTEN EXAMINATION The Written Examination for Class VI will be conducted as a single paper as follows: S.NO. In case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, minimum qualifying standards are not required and they will be admitted on the basis of inter-se merit at the Entrance Examination within these categories. In case a SC/ST candidate comes in the general merit on his own, he would be admitted against General Seat and will not be adjusted against the reserved share of SC/ST seats. MEDICAL EXAMINATION After the written test results, shortlisted candidates will be called for Medical Examination by the school. The intimation of date and location would be sent separately. Height and weight will be considered for fitness during the medical examination by the competent medical authority. The decision of the medical examination authority at Command Hospital level shall be final and binding. FINAL MERIT LIST The merit list for admission to the Sainik School would be compiled on the basis of written examination. In case there is a tie with regard to overall marks, the mark for Mathematics would be considered. In case there is a tie here also, the marks for English for Class IX and Intelligence Test for Class VI will be considered and thereafter the marks for General Science for Class IX and Language for Class VI. In case there is a tie there also, the boy younger in age will be selected. The marks obtained in the written test will determine his position in the final merit list. EXAMINATION CENTRES The Examination Centres in Tamil Nadu are tentatively as under, subject to the availability of adequate number of candidates. Class IX : UDUMALPET (TIRUPPUR DISTRICT), CHENNAI and PUDUCHERRY (If the number of applicants for a particular centre is very low, these applicants will be attached to the nearest centre, under intimation to the parents concerned) Class VI : AMARAVATHINAGAR and PUDUCHERRY (candidates opting for examination in Tamil medium will have to appear in Amaravathinagar centre only). 3 MARK LIST OF CANDIDATES The mark list of the candidates appearing in the exam can be supplied only to the concerned parent / legal guardian of the candidate with an online payment of Rs.100 /-. In such cases the mark list will be provided to the Parent only when medical examination formalities are completed in respect of all candidates. The school will not be able to give any statistical information till the time of completion of admission procedure. DETAILS OF FEES TO BE PAID BY THE PARENTS AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION The tuition fee in Sainik School is Rs. 79,860/- and Dietary Expense is Rs. 32,155/- for the year 2019-20 which will be increased every year as per the instructions of Board of Governors, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. The tuition fee and Dietary can be paid by the parents in Half Yearly and Yearly mode only. In addition to the above, the following fees are also to be paid by the parents at the time of admission: a) Clothing fees … Rs.1,500/- in the first year and Rs. 750/- in subsequent years. b) Caution Money … Rs. 3,000/- for General category and Rs. 1,500/- for SC/ST category students. c) Pocket Money … Rs. 10,980/- includes incidental charges p.a. The individual requirement of the boys for all the items as well as additional facilities will be provided from the School on payment. These additional charges will be required to be paid by the parents at the time of admission. SCHOLARSHIPS : (a) The Government of Tamil Nadu is providing merit-cum-means Scholarship to the Tamil Nadu domicile boys based on (father’s and mother’s) parent’s total income. The Scholarship scheme of TN Government as per 2019-20 is as under :- 4 JOINT MONTHLY INCOME OF THE ELIGIBILITY OF PARENTS (FOR SALARIED CLASS, SCHOLARSHIP BASIC PAY + GRADE PAY, AND DA) FOR YEAR Up to Rs. 6,000/- per month Rs. 40,000/- From Rs. 6,001/- to Rs. 12,000/- pm Rs. 30,000/- From Rs. 12,001/- to Rs.15,000/- pm Rs. 22,000/- From Rs. 15,001/- to Rs.18,000/- pm Rs. 15,000/- From Rs. 18,001/- to Rs. 21,000/- pm Rs. 10,000/- Rs. 21,001/- and above Nil (b) The Ministry of Defence Awards Scholarship to wards of Serving personnel and Ex- servicemen based on their rank as under :- Sl. RANK (SERVING & TYPE OF SCHOLARSHIP NO EX-SERVICEMEN) SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT 1 NCOs, OR in Army and corresponding Full Rs. 32,000/- equivalent ranks in Air Force and Navy. Scholarship 2 JCOs in Army and corresponding Half Rs. 16,000/- equivalent ranks in Air Force and Navy. Scholarship 3 Officers No Scholarship Nil (c) The Government of Puducherry awards Scholarship of Rs. 10,000/- per annum to Puducherry domiciled boys irrespective of parents income. (d) Other State Government Scholarships will be awarded as per the existing orders of the respective State Govts. The scholarship holders are to pay the school fee initially. The scholarship amount shall be credited to the students account as and when received from the state Govt. The income as on 01 July of the admission year (IN THIS CASE 01 July 2020) will be the income reckoned for determining the eligibility of Scholarship. The continuance of merit-cum- means scholarship is subject to the satisfactory conduct and progress of the student in the school. These scholarships are liable to be cancelled in case of failure to secure annual 5 promotion or for any other reason, which in the opinion of the Principal may render the retention of the student in the school undesirable. DOCUMENTS TO BE FURNISHED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION The parents are to furnish the following documents at the time of admission for the award of Tamil Nadu scholarship, if eligible, and subject to approval by the Government. a) Tamil Nadu Nativity /Domicile certificate as in the proforma issued by the school. b) Application for scholarship. c) Income Certificate Part I to Part IV (including unemployment certificate of the father/ mother whichever is applicable). d) Bond e) Agreement f ) Declaration that the boy is not in receipt of any scholarship or concession from any other source.

    GOVERNOR’S SECRETARIAT ARUNACHAL PRADESH ITANAGAR Press Communiqué Governor reviews progress of Sainik School, East Siang The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) reviewed the progress of Sainik School, East Siang at its campus at Niglok, 41 km from Pasighat on 12th March 2021. The Governor, who has been closely monitoring the development of the School since its inception, assessed the infrastructural and other physical advancement of the School along with members of Local Board of Administration (LBA) committee. He also reviewed the preparations for the coming academic session, including the financial allocations, student teacher ratio and other requirements of the School and Teaching Staff. The Governor strongly advocated that the Cadets of the School must be provided with the best education and opportunities for sports, games and extra curriculum activities. He urged upon all stakeholders to put in sincere and concerted effort for the success of the School and the Cadets. The Governor expressed his deep concern regarding the lodging and boarding provisions for the cadets, when next academic session commences. He stressed that the Education Department and construction agency must work on war footing to meet the dateline, while suggesting that multipronged work must be attempted. The Governor suggested that the LBA Committee must actively carry out its responsibility for the betterment of the institution, while State Government should ensure timely and early availability of funds for the infrastructural development of the School. He also called for regular on-the-spot visit by LBA committee members and the District Administration for first hand information of the progress of infrastructural work at the site.
