The children treated at PDI have an average of 10 cavities and are typically under the age of seven. PDI is a unique resource in Sonoma County, caring for kids who lack access to preventative care. Tooth decay is the number one epidemic plaguing children in the United States, and more prevalent than asthma, diabetes or obesity. Healthy baby teeth are important for babies and toddlers, giving them the ability to chew food, learn to speak correctly, and smile without embarrassment. When PDI opened in 2008, more than 400 children were on the waiting list. Since then, the two-operating room facility has allowed PDI to treat more than 10,700 children from the North Bay and beyond, encompassing 30 Northern California counties. PDI is the only non-profit 1 2 dental surgery center in Northern California to specialize in dental treatment under general anesthesia for underserved young children experiencing severe tooth decay. Additionally, because dental health is imperative to overall health (tooth decay is linked to heart disease, stroke, and compromised immune system) our staff works with patients, parents and the community to provide oral health education stressing the importance of preventing tooth decay. Our mission is to maintain a sustainable dentistry resource that will serve the low-income children of Northern California, who need safe sedation for dental treatment, and also to provide prevention education and promote oral health. Good health starts in the mouth and the healthy life of a child starts with a healthy, pain-free childhood. Together, we make kids smile! Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County aims to bring Hope & Opportunity to every child in Sonoma County. Serving 5,000 Sonoma County children every year at 28 Clubs in Cloverdale, Geyserville, Healdsburg, Windsor, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park, our programs empower young people to achieve academic success, choose healthy lifestyles, and build good character and leadership. Club programs are very affordable or free and aim to instill in youth a sense of belonging, influence, usefulness and competence. 57% of Club alumni say that the Club saved their life. Club alumnus and actor Denzel Washington says, “Without the Boys & Girls Club, I wouldn’t be where I am today, but more importantly, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” Every day after-school and during the summer, we open our doors in 6 Sonoma County communities and are proud to say that Great Futures Start Here. Children’s Education Programs at the Charles M. Schulz Museum & Research Center The Charles M. Schulz Museum’s children’s education program is committed to offering free and affordable programs and scholarships to low income schools and students in support of art and science education. The Museum brings hands-on art, cartooning, animation, and science to over 10,000 children a year. This year, The Schulz Museum’s Peanuts...Naturally Festival and classroom outreach programs engaged over 7,000 children in four counties in interactive, hands-on environmental science while our Museum field trips delivered art and cartooning experiences to over 4,000 school children from five counties. Thirty three percent of the children reached through these programs live in under-served, low-income communities. Scholarship Fund for Sonoma Academy is a premier independent college preparatory school that offers an important educational choice for high school students in the North Bay. Having it as part of the civic infrastructure of Santa Rosa elevates the culture of Sonoma County and the opportunity it provides residents. Though Sonoma Academy’s campus is within walking distance to the homes of some of the most underserved families in the county, the reality of a premier independent high school or college education is an unattainable dream without sufficient funds to offset the costs. At the outset, the founders of Sonoma Academy designated generous gifts to create a permanent scholarship endowment as a commitment to provide access to qualified students based on their motivation and desire to be part of a learning community, not based on their family’s means. The school has nearly quadrupled in size (270 students, grades 9-12). Sonoma Academy awards well over two million dollars per year in need-based scholarships to fifty percent of the student body, some of whom are first to college in their families and English language learners. Every year the advancement office and the Sonoma Academy Parents Association actively fundraise to provide the additional revenue needed, enabling the school to remain accessible to a diverse population of qualified students, including those who can see SA –and the vastly different future it can ensure – from their front yards. 100% of the funds donated to SA by the Sonoma County Children’s Charities go directly and immediately to need-based financial aid and have a profound impact on these students’ lives and futures. We are deeply grateful for your support. Santa Rosa Catholic Charities Family Support Center Since 1988, Catholic Charities Family Support Center (FSC) has been known for its success in creating brighter futures for homeless children. Over 270 children each year find safety and stability at FSC, the largest family shelter between the Golden Gate Bridge and Portland, OR. Our nationally recognized efforts to address poverty and homelessness go far beyond warm beds and nutritious meals. Children are given the opportunity to develop social and academic skills that will serve them long after they have left the shelter. Specially designed programs offer academic tutoring, art and music classes, and monthly field trips. Our services are available to any child in need, although we currently have a shelter waiting list of over 40 families.

Actor Denzel Washington says, “Without the Boys & Girls Club, I wouldn’t be where I am today, but more importantly, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” Every day after-school and during the summer, we open our doors in 6 Sonoma County communities and say, Great Futures Start Here.

BENEFITS: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County PDI Surgery Center

PDI Surgery Center, located in Windsor, provides specialized dental surgery under general anesthesia to children suffering from extensive tooth decay. The children treated at PDI have an average of 14-18 cavities and are typically under the age of seven. PDI is a unique resource in Sonoma County, car- ing for kids who lack access to preventative care.

Since then, the two-operating room facility has allowed PDI to treat more than 9,500 children from the North Bay and beyond, encompassing 30 Northern California counties. PDI is the first non-profit dental surgery center in Northern California to specialize in dental treatment under general anesthesia for young children experiencing severe tooth decay.

The healthy life of a child starts with a healthy, pain-free childhood.

Since 1988, Catholic Charities Family Support Center (FSC) has been known for its success in creating brighter futures for homeless children. Over 270 children each year find safety and stability at FSC, the largest family shelter between the Golden Gate Bridge and Portland, OR. Our nationally recognized efforts to address poverty and home- lessness go far beyond warm beds and nutritious meals. Children are given the opportunity to develop social and academic skills that will serve them long after they have left the shelter. Specially designed programs offer academ- ic tutoring, art and music classes, and monthly field trips. Our services are available to any child in need, although we currently have a shelter waiting list of over 40 families.
