Last Match Broncs Suffer First Loss Sept. 12, 2014 at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women’s soccer team’s six-match undefeated streak to start its first season came to a close on Friday with a 5-1 loss to the Abilene Christian University Rams. The Broncs (4-1-2) scored their lone goal when freshman Hanna Spets recorded her first career goal at the 6:46 mark. The Broncs maintained their 1-0 lead until a furious four and a half minutes that saw the Rams (3-4-0) score three times, the latter of which came from Baylee Mitchell. Tiffany Ysassi scored the first goal of the flurry at 38:43 and assisted on the second goal at 39:43. Peyton Bucklew assisted on the first goal. Natalie Throneberry assisted on the third goal at 43:25. The Rams put together another multi-goal quick strike near the end of the match, as Chantal Kinsey scored on a penalty kick at 69:44 and then Throneberry found the back of the net 1:03 later on a feed from Chloe Fifer to complete the scoring. The Rams peppered freshman goalkeeper Aubrie Coley (2-1-2) with shots all night, as she was forced to make a career-high nine saves. The Broncs finished with seven shots on goal, but Kelsey Dombrowski (1-0-0) turned away six of them. The Rams outshot the Broncs 21-16 and had four corner kicks compared to one by the Broncs.

Broncs Win at Prairie View A&M Sept. 5, 2014 at Lady Panthers Field – Freshman Andreya Barrera scored two goals to help the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women’s soccer team remain undefeated through the first six matches in program history with a 3-1 win against the Prairie View A&M Panthers. The Broncs (4-0-2) are just the third NCAA Division I women’s soccer team out of 22 in the history of Texas to be undefeated through their first six matches at the DI level, joining Baylor (5-0-1 in 1996) and Abilene Christian (5-0-1 in 2013). Barrera’s first goal tied the game on an assist from freshman Aimie Inthoulay at the 25:51 mark. Her second goal gave the Broncs a two-goal advantage on a shot from 20 yards out into the top of the net at the 62:32 mark. Freshman Jessica Suarez’s first-career goal turned out to be the game winner, as she scored on assist from freshman Zinnia Hannig at 39:18 to make it 2-1. Freshman goalkeeper Aubrie Coley (2-0-2) made five saves for the win. The lone Panthers (0-4-0) goal came at 14:36, when Celene Batrez took a header from Alicia Cooper and shot it in from 12 yards out. Broncs Play Texas A&M International to Scoreless Draw Sept. 2, 2014 at TAMIU Soccer Complex – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women’s soccer team played the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils to a 0-0 double overtime draw. The Broncs (3-0-2) are just the fourth NCAA Division I women’s soccer team out of 22 in the history of Texas to be undefeated through their first five matches at the DI level, joining Baylor (5-0-0 in 1996), Incarnate Word (5-0-0 in 2013) and Abilene Christian (4-0-1 in 2013). Freshman goalkeeper Aubrie Coley (1-0-2) recorded her second shutout in three starts by making seven saves. Dustdevils (0-0-1) goalkeeper Chelsea Knaack (0-0-1) also made seven saves for the shutout. The Dustdevils led in shots 12-11, although both teams attempted seven shots on goal. Each team committed 13 fouls for a total of 26, marking the highest total in a Broncs match this season. The Dustdevils also had more corner kicks, 4-2. Freshman Hanna Spets attempted a team-high four shots and was the only Bronc with two shots on goal. Glad Bugariu Head Coach Date Named: 4/26/13 • Head Coaching Experience: 10th Season • Birthdate: 9/29/76

Glad Bugariu was hired as the first women’s soccer head coach in program history on No. 10 ranked teams in the nation, and having two players earn NSCAA All-Region April 26, 2013. Before coming to UTPA, he spent five seasons as the head coach at honors. South Carolina State University, where he is the winningest coach in the program history. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Bugariu has worked at the professional and international level in the CONCACAF region, both on the men’s and women’s side.
