Adam Scott to Lead the Charge at the Masters on 7Mate 3 April 2014 Adam Scott to lead the charge at The Masters on 7mate Reigning Masters champion Adam Scott leads a host of Australians at Augusta National Golf Club vying for the coveted green jacket LIVE on 7mate. It’s the first time the Seven Network will broadcast The Masters and adds to an impressive suite of golf tournaments on Australia’s leading network including all major Australian golf tournaments – the Masters, the Open, the PGA Championship and the Perth International. Peter Donegan hosts 7mate’s LIVE coverage of The Masters. Australian major winner Ian Baker-Finch and Wayne Grady will preview all the action from Augusta at the start of each day’s play and ‘Whispering’ Pat Welsh will also be updating from the fairways of Augusta. Of the six Aussies in the tournament, 2011 runner-up and last year’s third placegetter, Jason Day is hoping to shake off his thumb injury to again contend at Augusta. And after playing the final round last year with Adam Scott, Warrnambool’s Marc Leishman is back to improve on his impressive fourth place in 2013. John Senden will join the field after winning the Valspar Championship in Florida recently, while Steven Bowditch triumph this week at the Texas Open will also see him take to the Augusta fairways. And Aussie golf fans will be watching with added interest to see if 19 year-old West Australian Oliver Goss can top the list of amateurs, or pull off a fairytale win. In addition to Seven’s expert team, there will be commentary from a string of the biggest names on golf via the host broadcaster CBS, including iconic host Jim Nantz, three-time winner Nick Faldo and Ian Baker-Finch, who will once again be commentating from Amen Corner on the 11th and 12th holes. 7mate’s coverage tees off with the Par 3 contest on Thursday April 10, followed by the four days of the prestigious tournament. Walker, who lives in nearby Boerne, became the fourth San Antonio-area resident to win the Valero Texas Open when he prevailed by four strokes over Jordan Spieth in his victory here last year. Walker was one of only four players in the field to post four sub-par rounds and at the time became the first multiple winner for the TOUR’s 2014-2015 season, having successfully defended his Sony Open in Hawaii title a few months earlier. By season’s end, Walker advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs for a sixth consecutive season and was ranked 16th in the FedExCup standings. “Jimmy has been a great champion for us throughout the year and we are excited to have him come back and defend his title,” said the tournament’s Executive Director Larson Segerdahl. “He and his wife Erin are great ambassadors for the San Antonio area and for the game of golf. We could not have been prouder to have him as our champion this year and consider him a member of the Valero Texas Open family.” Walker will have some of the world’s top ranked players, fellow Valero Texas Open champions and some major championship winners to compete against in what is the third oldest PGA TOUR event on the schedule.

Rickie Fowler is a five-time winner on the PGA TOUR, highlighted by his victory at THE PLAYERS Championship in 2015. This year, Fowler tied for eighth at the PGA Championship, his best finish of the season. His first TOUR win came in 2012 at the Wells Fargo Championship, and his most recent victory was the Waste Management Phoenix Open in 2019.
