В 2016 году количество участников достигло рекордной отметки — 26 команд. Впервые игры турнира принимает олимпийская столица России — Сочи! Турнир является крупнейшим хоккейным соревнованием Европы в возрастной категории до 11 лет. Кубок проводится по дивизионной модели Континентальной хоккейной лиги: коллективы группы «Запад» играют в Сочи, команды группы «Восток» в Омске. 24 апреля на «Арене Омск» состоится Суперфинал, в котором за главный трофей сразятся победители групп. «Кубок Газпром нефти» традиционно проходит на высочайшем организационном уровне. Юные хоккеисты играют на лучших ледовых аренах, матчи судят бригады профессиональных арбитров. Кубок раз‑ работан и изготовлен теми же мастерами, которые создали Кубок Гагарина. Церемония открытия турнира включает в себя мультимедийное шоу, которое по красочности и масштабу не уступает аналогичным программам на матчах взрослых команд. Соревнования широко освещаются в СМИ: десятки журналистов работают в течение всего турнира непосредственно на ледовых аренах! ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT The 10th International KHL Kids’ Hockey tournament, the Gazprom Neft Cup, takes place over April 19th—24th in Sochi and Omsk. With the number of teams competing in 2016 reaching a record high of 26, the opening matches of the tournament will take place in Russia’s Olympic city of Sochi! The tournament is Europe’s most important youth hockey competition for the under‑11s, and follows the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) “divisional” model, with teams in the “West Group” playing their matches in Sochi, and those in the “East Group” in Omsk. The Superfinal will be held at the Arena Omsk on April 24, with the winners of both groups competing for the main tournament trophy. The Gazprom Neft Cup is renowned for always being run to the highest possible standard. Players are given the opportunity to play at the best ice arenas, with matches refereed by professional linesmen. The Gazprom Neft Cup is designed and produced by the same masters behind Russia’s ultimate KHL trophy, the Gagarin Cup. The Opening Ceremony includes a multimedia show of a scale and glamour unmatched by adult‑team events. Baltic Sea Region Studies October 2013 ABSTRACT Since the end of Cold War rivalries, the world of international hockey was deemed to becoming increasingly homogenized along western sportization patterns. The introduction of the Russian- sponsored Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) signified a new era in the global diffusion of modern sports. Its recent expansion in the post-Soviet space and European countries significantly reshuffled the landscape of international hockey, offering new prospects for the studies of the intersection of sports, history, geopolitics and nationalism in the age of globalization. The aim of this study is to conceptualize the KHL and illuminate the role of ice hockey in post- Soviet Latvia. I treat the creation of the KHL and the integration of a Latvian-based team, “Dinamo Riga,” into the KHL within the broader discussion on the globalization of sports and its effects on national communities. The research is based on a case study of the modern rebirth of “Dinamo Riga” and its participation in the KHL and is confined to the scholarly themes in sports research, such as the history of modern sports and globalization, sports and nationalism.
