January 14, 2018 COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYING STYLE 2 Abstract The question I am trying to answer in this paper is “what style of ball should a college basketball team play?” To answer this question, I analyzed the data of points per game, opponent points per game, and winning percentage of every Division I and Division II and almost every Division III basketball team for the 2016-17 season. I concluded that offense is slightly more important than defense for Division II and Division III college basketball teams. Division II and Division III coaches can apply this finding by emphasizing their recruiting on better scorers. With 12 NCAA Tournament berths in the last 14 seasons, seven Sweet Sixteen appearances, a pair of consecutive Final Four showings, and the 2002 national championship – the first of its kind in Maryland basketball history – Williams and his staff have literally forged what is now more than a decade of dominance in college basketball’s most storied and competitive conference. Now, with 378 victories as Maryland’s head coach, Williams is the school’s Terrapins all-time winningest head coach, eclipsing the mark of former Terp mentor Charles “Lefty” Driesell, who amassed 348 victories in 17 seasons from 1969-70 to 1985-86. The Terrapins have averaged 23.0 wins per year since the 1994-95 season. With 585 career victories in 29 seasons overall, Williams is the seventh-winningest active head coach in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. Williams was heralded as the national and ACC Coach of the Year during the Terps’ 2002 championship run. He is one of just 12 active coaches in America to boast a national title and one of only three in the conference. He has become the third-winningest coach in ACC history after transforming the Maryland program into one of the nation’s most formidable, and building a Baltimore-D.C.

The Big 12 men's basketball coaches wrapped up their meetings Tuesday in Phoenix with its new members -- West Virginia and TCU -- replacing the departed Missouri and Texas A&M. And the consensus was that the league is actually as strong as it's ever been. "I never questioned the stability," Texas coach Rick Barnes said. "The anchors were always the ones that wanted to keep it together -- Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. I know our AD [DeLoss Dodds] never wavered on keeping the league together. We're very comfortable with where it is right now." The Big 12 made an easy switch in adding West Virginia and TCU.     Bob Huggins BASKETBALL FANTASY CAMP JUNE 5 - JUNE 7, 2020 MORGANTOWN, WV YOUR HOST, BOB HUGGINS, IS ONE OF THE GREATEST COACHES TO EVER PLAY AND COACH THE GAME. THE LEGEND I would like you to be one of the select 40 invited campers to my Bob Huggins’ Basketball Fantasy Camp, to be held at the fabulous West Virginia University Coliseum and new state-of-the-art practice facility. I am a Morgantown native and 1977 graduate of West Virginia University, compiling 880+ wins in my 37 seasons as a head coach. I rank third in total victories among active Division I head coaches. I am a three-time Academic All-American and three-year letterman. It is my sincere desire to give something back to the game. This Basketball Fantasy Camp is just one of the events I use to do this. At my Basketball Fantasy Camp we will be concentrating on developing your basketball knowledge. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop personal relationships with the country’s top basketball coaches and former great Mountaineer players, as well as many other highly successful people. You will participate in basketball drills, fun contests and daily 5-on-5 games, all under the watchful eyes of our coaching staff. No better coaching staff has ever been assembled. We will eat together, compete together and socialize together. I will be directly involved on a daily basis and intend to make this a memorable experience for everyone.
