Schneerson, OB”M devoted his life to bringing Jews closer to levels. Over 20 classes are held every week, allowing you to discover your roots through Torah Judaism, sending Shluchim (emissaries) throughout the globe. Study classes in a wide range of topics. The courses and classes are free of charge and open to The Chabad-Lubavitch movement comprises more than 3,500 centers throughout the world and emphasizes all regardless of background or affiliation. Ahavat Yisrael, love for a fellow Jew and the importance of living a Jewish life. SUNDAY WEDNESDAY The Rebbe’s passionate and uncompromising love for every Jew is legendary. R’ Mayer Preger 11:00 am Food for the Body & Soul This year, Chabad of the Five Towns marks 18 years since it was established. 18 is the numerical equivalent of the word Chai which means life. And Chabad of the Five Towns has 7:15 am Daf Yomi Daily Talmud Study Mrs. Rivkah Kotlarsky infused tremendous life, vigor, unity and excitement into the community over the last 18 years for both the affiliated and non affiliated. R’ Elly Storch As we approach Rosh Hashanah 5773 and begin a new year of Chabad service to the Jewish communities of the Five Towns, we can proudly report that, thank G-d, we have had 7:20 am Rambam – A Chapter A Day THURSDAY the privilege of touching the lives of many Jewish people through our Bar/Bat Mitzvah clubs, Senior’s Program, Hebrew School, Friendship Circle, Bagel Babies, Women’s classes, R’ Mayer Preger 5:45 am Tanya daily Shiurim for men, Gan Chamesh pre-school, Jewish Learning Institute and the many other daily programs that take place here at Chabad. 3:00 pm Connection to the Source R’ Mayer Preger In April 2011, we saw a need to open a satellite Center in Hewlett to enhance Chabad’s existing services there. As such, we are now proud to have a Chabad of Hewlett division, as part of Chabad of the Five Towns, under the expert guidance of Rabbi Nochem and Rivkie Tenenboim. Grossbaum For the better part of this year we have been spending much time discussing and debating the ramifications of Covid 19 and how it has impacted our lives and life style. Yet, little has been said, or written about the virus, from a historical Judaic per- spective. The Midrash relates that during the rein of King David there was a mysterious plague. Each day some 100 people passed away. Recognizing that something out of the ordinary was amiss, the mon- arch invoked his divine perception and prophetical- ly foretold that the antidote for the pestilence was to praise G-d 100 times throughout the day. Indeed, after he instituted the said quota the plague ceased. This innovation carries through to this very day. Our three daily prayers as presented in the Siddur provide the requisite quota needed to comply with the edict of the Psalmist. All true, but factually the structured prayers found in the Siddur and recited throughout the day was compiled by Ezra the Scribe who led the Jews back to the Land of Israel after 70 years of exile in Babylon. This epic return occurred some five hundred years after the sovereign leader- ship of King David. Hence, this leads me to assume that back then a prayer of thankgiving was an informal spontaneous declaration of gratitude. It did not take on the form and structure of a prescribed written text.

It is the task of every one of us to elevate all human activity to a Divine purpose. In short, this means being able to connect every human activity with G-d – and this is precisely the purpose of the Torah and its commandments, called mitzvoth in Hebrew. Every human being has the unique ability to connect his entire being with the Creator. Upon achieving this task, he creates a dwelling place for G-d in this world, thereby fulfilling the purpose of creation. As is explained in this book, the worlds of the spiritual and the physical are not in conflict. Their ultimate purpose is that they be fused together with the physical being permeated by the spiritual. The core element of every mitzvah – commandment performance is to take the physical creation and utilize it for a Divine purpose. Thereby a wonderful harmony achieving both in the individual and in the world at large. This is a theme that encompasses all times and places; wherever and whenever a person operates, he is able to utilize the task at hand for its correct and Divine purpose, thus transforming one’s daily life activities into a dwelling place for G-d.
