Ideally, the channel will attempt to emulate, as closely as possible, what communication would be like if all of your team members were in the same office. Mehaffy Faculty of Architecture Delft University of Technology2 Sustasis Foundation Portland, Oregon Abstract We describe the origin of wiki technology, which has become widely influential, and its relationship to the development of pattern languages in software. We show here how the relationship is deeper than previously understood, opening up the possibility of expanded capability for wikis, including a new generation of “federated” wiki. [NOTE TO REVIEWERS: This paper is part first-person history and part theory. The history is given by one of the participants, an original developer of wiki and co-developer of pattern language. The theory points toward future potential of pattern language within a federated, peer-to-peer framework.] 1. Introduction Wiki is today widely established as a kind of website that allows users to quickly and easily share, modify and improve information collaboratively (Leuf and Cunningham, 2001). It is described on Wikipedia – perhaps its best known example – as “a website which allows its users to add, modify, or delete its content via a web browser usually using a simplified markup language or a rich-text editor” (Wikipedia, 2013). Wiki is so well established, in fact, that a Google search engine result for the term displays approximately 1.25 billion page “hits”, or pages on the World Wide Web that include this term somewhere within their text (Google, 2013a). Along with this growth, the definition of what constitutes a “wiki” has broadened since its introduction in 1995. Consider the example of WikiLeaks, where editable content would defeat the purpose of the site. -

Jakub Jirůtka Study Programme: Informatics Study Branch: Web and Software Engineering Department: Department of Software Engineering Validity: Until the end of summer semester 2018/19 Instructions The goal of this thesis is to create a wiki system suitable for community (software) projects, focused on technically oriented users. The system must meet the following requirements: • All data is stored in a Git repository. • System provides access control. • System supports AsciiDoc and Markdown, it is extensible for other markup languages. • Full-featured user access via Git and CLI is provided. • System includes a web interface for wiki browsing and management. Its editor works with raw markup and offers syntax highlighting, live preview and interactive UI for selected elements (e.g. image insertion). Proceed in the following manner: 1. Compare and analyse the most popular F/OSS wiki systems with regard to the given criteria. 2. Design the system, perform usability testing. 3. Implement the system in JavaScript. Source code must be reasonably documented and covered with automatic tests. 4. Create a user manual and deployment instructions. References Will be provided by the supervisor. Ing. In order to implement a Java macro you will need to write 2 classes: • One that representing the allowed parameters, including mandatory parameters, default values, parameter descriptions. An instance of this class will be automatically populated when the user calls the macro in wiki syntax. • Another one that is the macro itself and implements the Macro interface. The XWiki Rendering Architecture can be summarized by the image below: The Parser parses a text input like "xwiki/2.0" syntax or HTML and generates an XDOM object. This object is an Abstract Syntax Tree which represents the input into structured blocks. The Renderer takes an XDOM as input and generates an output like "xwiki/2.0" syntax, XHTML or PDF.
