It is beyond words how it feels to see all of these kids commemorating this milestone. The evening come down and truly give their lives to Christ. Congratulations to these four new lives in began with a blessing from Doug Brenneman, Christ. – Julie Smith (More pictures on page 2) and we enjoyed music by CFC Chaplain Brad Rineholt (Silver Spurs Chapter). Door prizes were awarded, followed by a video by CFC Chaplain Omar Stiefer, “Will You Be A Cowboy For Christ”, which depicts the ministry of the founder of CFC, Brother Ted Pressley. This video can be viewed on YouTube and is really worth watching. A highlight of the evening was the ordination of two new Chaplains, Jerry and Danielle Jernigan from York, PA. We were reminded that the ordination is not the calling, but only a confirmation of the calling already placed on them by the Lord. Jerry and Danielle both read scripture from Isaiah 6:8 and 61:1,2, and gave testimony that they were GRANT SMITH BAPTISING AT TYBRA willing to be used by God wherever He may lead.

To close the celebration, this small portion of the CFC family participated in communion together. ANTHONY SMITH The only disappointment was that John Topper, longtime friend and supporter of CFC, was unable to attend to sing as planned, and Dr. Dave Harvey our current President and Executive Director of CFC was unable to attend to speak to us and celebrate with us. Even though they were greatly missed, the Lord had a lesson for us in this: CFC is not about a man, a chapter, a celebration or gathering. It is about proclaiming Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and about working as diligently as we can to fill His Kingdom. As the time grows shorter, let us all double our efforts to make use KADE PRESTON of every opportunity to proclaim the Name of Jesus Christ to the livestock industry and beyond.

Eccl 1:9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. “Nothing new under the sun” and we now have a new year! Well, you may be asking what does “new” really mean and what does it mean to me? I guess that most of us would have to think about that question for a few minutes and maybe much more than a few minutes. When we think about “new” we usually are thinking about something brand new; like a new truck, a new coat or a new pair of boots. But actually, it would be hard to apply that kind of “new” to a calendar year of 364 or 365 days, as the case may be, because we may be in a new year, but we are still faced with the same old stuff; the same old problems and the same old situations in our lives. There are many that are faced with the same old pain, the same old suffering, the same old heartache and there are some that have to endure the same old loneliness, hopelessness, desperation and guilt. So, this “new year” could be just an extension of the same old year that doesn’t bring “new” to anything. In fact, it seems that “new” which suggest change or different, but when we consider new year it really doesn’t have anything new, at all. That is except for new pages on the calendar. The current situation of the “old year” in this nation and probably all other nations around the world is that evil is running rampant throughout almost all communities and governments and just about every aspect of the lives of most of the citizen of those nations. We are bombarded with evil, destruction and chaos, all of the time. There certainly is a concerted effort of the news, (there I go again, picking on the lamestream media, which is very much deserved, I might add) to propagate this evil and chaos. There never seems to be a break from the evil, and we only see evil and hear evil, wherever and whenever; and it is exploited to maximize the effect of that evil or lawlessness. There is also a very direct effort to subdue or eliminate anything good, honest or kind, and especially anything “Christian.” To prove my point; at this time most nations around the world have been invaded with a terrible “virus” which is man-made or man developed and it has been turned loose on the world to cause as much fear, pain and death as possible. Yet, much of the information spread by the world “news” tries to put blame on the innocent and convict, by public opinion, those trying to do good, or help alleviate the problems caused by this evil. And instead helping to solve the problems and control the fear, they are using it to further their agenda of evil and corruption. The terrible situations of this old sinful world may not get much better in this new year. Oh, so very much I wish it would, but I don’t think the adversary is going to take a day off or go on vacation. As we are told in “Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” The “good will still be called evil and the evil will still be called good” but we must recognize the “good” and do it and support those that are trying to do good. And we must do our part to serve the HOLY GOD, in every aspect of our lives and not be consumed by the “new” that is not “new.” We must be greatly about THE MASTERS’S business and seek HIM, seek to serve HIM and seek to do HIS will. Children of GOD, I have news for you, good news and real news. The GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOR. The GOOD NEWS is that one of these days’ things will be ‘NEW” completely ‘NEW” and made new by GOD HIMSELF. HE will make a NEW HEAVEN and a NEW EARTH, just as the great prophet Isaiah has so clearly told us in Isa 65:17 “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” Wow, we are told that we won’t even remember the things of evil, chaos and corruption. We won’t even remember the terrible things, or people that are working so hard to destroy the good, the joy and the peace of GOD’S children. We won’t remember the anti-Christian movement, the ungodly acts and the terrible works of the adversary and his demons, and even the works of his helpers. We are told by the Apostle Peter in “2 Peter 3:13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.” Did you catch this powerful truth; that in the “new heaven and new earth” we will have righteousness. In fact, the “new heaven and the new earth” will be the home of righteousness. There will be no agendas of evil and corruption and no lies, because the father of lies will not be there. There will be no lawlessness and destruction. Peace will be assured and as stated in “Lam 3:22-23 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” During these days of turmoil and strife, lawlessness and corruption we must stand strong in our walk with the LORD, because the LORD’S great LOVE! HIS compassions never fail! Great is HIS faithfulness! These are the “new” that we need to know, believe and trust. Christians, believers and servants of the LORD, listen to what John the Revelator tells us in “Rev 21:5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Happy New Year and GOD bless you in the “new year.” In CHRIST, Page 8 * THE CHRISTIAN RANCHMAN * Jan / Feb 2021 Cowboys For Christ General Store

As we think of the people who use a plow who work diligently year-round and never stop. A big yahoo, hoorah for them. Their commitment to make it work, makes them my heroes. They get up before the sun rises and retire after it sets. They are the backbone of America. They usually work till exhausted and with very few resources. In Luke 9:62 Jesus said,” No one having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God” He was referring to a man who needed to bury his father. He was wanting this man to go build the kingdom. We all have excuses as to why we can’t do what Jesus has told us to do. It could be we feel weak, we are exhausted from doing our other job, or we are out of resources. Throughout the bible Jesus lays out specific strategies to follow. The man behind the plow usually does not have the luxury of giving up, or falling into other feelings such as despair. He doesn’t just do another day; he lives for the good life that is within his reach. Let’s take lessons from the man behind the plow and remember when we are at our wits ends, God lives there. The farmer unflags bravery and energy, and sometimes is out in the field whistling a little song. He certainly is diligent in leading his family at the supper table in giving praise to God for every season that they might be in. As they depend on God. They praise Him for the weather, they praise Him for their neighbors who lend a hand when needed, and always make time to present their best at the Sunday meeting time. They know their Scriptures well like in Hebrews10:23 that says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is faithful” And the next day during planting season he grabs the plow, hangs on, and doesn’t look back. We know the farmer doesn’t look back. why is this? Because his furrows would be crooked, then the next row, he would have to do crooked, and his field would be a mess. I love when they live each moment with the awareness of God’s abundant generosity. They know it is a gift from God. For you see farming is serious work, and is a risky business, and a way of life. It’s not just a job, and sometimes, it’ not even enough to make a living in the bad years. In our days of convenience, it’s hard for us to even imagine what we see, yet alone something that we put in the ground and there is no evidence of a crop for a long time. Their faith overrides many unknowns. They are committed to sacrifice and for the long haul. We all like certainty and control. We let it be easy, to take our eyes off the prize, to look back, to falter, and even to fail. Thanks be to God for the grace we are offered, for the love that is freely given, for the blood and tears that were shed for us, and for the hope that keeps us plowing, no matter how many times we have made crooked farrows, and took our hands off the plow. On the ranch the farmer constantly has to check his fields because the areas have to be cleared so the animals don’t get tangled up when they are hooked up to the plow. We get ourselves all in a bunch by the ins, habits, and other things that draw us away from God. In Galatians 5:1-25 Jesus brought us all in, so we could all know the truth, and so we could do this life well. But unless our lives are looking towards the Kingdom, and keeping our eyes focused on Jesus, we do nasty evil things to one another, but our mighty God desires that His children, who are called by His Name walk in truth, trust Him and His ways, and produce good and tasty fruit; such as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. The good crops come from the diligent hard work and not the way of the flesh, or what the easy way that leads to destruction would have you believe is the truth. It is walking daily, reading the Word, finding ways to serve others just as the farmer does. He has counted the cost and walking the walk to see good crops produced. Keeping his hand on the plow and not letting go. In Luke 9:51-62 It talks about Jesus steadfastly setting His face towards Jerusalem. He sent messengers ahead. they did not receive him and his messengers wanted to bring down fire from heaven, for not receiving Jesus. Jesus got stern at times, snarky even. He reminded them that He came to save lives not destroy lives. Sometimes we want others to respond so much, we forget why we want them looking at Jesus. Jesus reminded them that if they followed Him, He didn’t even have somewhere to lay his head. Jesus even came across as unfeeling, when he said to the man who wanted to go bury his father, let the dead bury the dead. Jesus is focused on what the Father has instructed Him to do. Jesus is strong, He didn’t cut them much slack. The farmer is determined, he sets his face towards the task that needs done for the day. He is steadfast and strong, focused on what is ahead. There is a song sung when the civil rights movement was going on that said,” Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around, Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around, I’m going to keep on walking, marching up to the freedom land. “Walking as a follower of the Lord is serious business. The very idea of freedom, that comes from knowing Him, and even harder the serious commitment it takes, to walk in truth for the cause. The followers were a slave to one another. They walked the freedom walk to have the liberties. Jesus came down from heaven and proved it could be and had to be done both by His life and His death. We walk in the freedom and liberties of being in right standings with Jesus because of the work that was done at the cross, and the blood that was shed. Jesus walked a walk of faithfulness, and with the ultimate selflessness, and dedication. We minimize how hard it is to love that much for one another, and to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit. It is difficult to stay on course. But Jesus did. He kept His eyes forward, as what He had to do, and never looked back or got off course. We can’t just do what we want. In Galatians 5:13 it states that we can’t use our liberty for opportunities of the flesh, but through love to serve one another. Some are attracted to the walk at first, then they don’t stick with it and return to their previous ways. We are in a covenant relationship with God as a bride and groom have committed their lives one to another. We are life partners. Challenges and trials only strengthen our relationship. Don’t be like some folks who just give up, finding something easier, or prettier, or younger. Count the cost. Eternity is worth the work. Jesus arose from the dead and so can we if we keep our hand on the plow and don’t let go. This helps you to learn and grow spiritually. Keep moving forward with Jesus into deeper, intimate, vertical, relationships. We can be bold and courageous and face our fears, keeping our eyes on the road as like when you were learning to drive. If you look back, you will second guess yourself, and can guess yourself into a paralysis state. If you keep looking back you will mess up the whole thing. Looking forward there is a clear path ahead. For today, there is one task ahead. Be future oriented. Press on. Keep your eyes on the prize. Use endurance, do the hard work, using your God-given strength. Martin Luther King said once,” I prayed a prayer, and I prayed out loud that night. I said “Lord I’m down here trying to do what’s right. But Lord I must confess that I’m weak now. I’m faltering, I’m losing my courage, and I can’t let the people see me like this because if they see me weak and losing my courage, then they will begin to get weak” Be the leader God will develop you to be. To see the impossible end. Guatemalan poet Julia Esquivel wrote a closing prayer to help with your journey forward. It is based on Luke 18:1, “Jesus said, you ought always to pray and not faint. So we do not pray for easy lives, we pray to be stronger men and women, and we do not pray for tasks equal to our powers, but for power equal to our tasks. Then the doing of the work will be no miracle-we will be the miracle. Every day we will wonder at ourselves and the riches of life, which has come to us by the grace of God. Keep your hand to the plow and don’t look back. Read Luke 10, then go and do likewise. choose the good part which cannot be taken away. Love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Jesus showed us the way, He is the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by Him. Keep your hand to the plow and don’t look back. By his grace, I am saved. blessings and love to all, Bobbi.
