Encore Theatre Company has scooped the pool and is thrilled to have received 7 Tasmanian Theatre Awards (“The Errols”) last Saturday for their 2015 productions of Mary Poppins and Evita.
Mary Poppins received 6 Awards in Community - Musical Theatre for Best Production, Best Lead Performances (Abbey Hansson & Frank Kerr), Best Direction (Danny Gibson), Best Choreography (Kelly Hortle) and Best Technical (Marcello Lo Ricco for Sound Design). And Evita picked up the Best Design Award (Darryl Rogers for Set Design).
Company Co-President Belinda King says, “If Mary Poppins is about one central idea, then it has to be learning to fly. And it took a team of 150 volunteers to create our Poppins and make her fly high, which she certainly did at the Tasmanian Theatre Awards.” (L to R Abbey Hansson, Danny Gibson, Frank Kerr)

PETER PAN Stage Right Youth Theatre is delighted to announce their 2016 production is PETER PAN The British Musical.
From the Director of Encore’s Mary Poppins, Danny Gibson will be staging this timeless, classic tale of the boy who never wanted to grow up. Based on the original story by JM Barrie this delightful musical will hold you
spell bound with Fairies, Indians, Lost Boys and Pirates.
Follow the adventures of Wendy, John and Michael as they flyaway to Neverland led by Peter Pan. Captain Hook and his band of nasty pirates try to discover the home of the Lost Boys while fighting off the brave Indians and all the while being chased by the hungry crocodile. Peter Pan has something for the whole family ; colourful sets, costumes and a wonderful musical score.
