B r AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT e e st n Event Win WWW.CHRISTMASTREEWONDERLAND.CO.UK CHRISTMAS TREE WONDERLAND Christmas 2018 saw a fantastic Christmas Tree spectacular throughout the Coastal Villages and the Lower Gardens, on a scale never seen before. Visitors experienced a magical spectacle with hundreds of glittering trees shimmering against the night skies along the pine-scented walkways in the Lower Gardens. The simple concept of illuminated Christmas Trees from around the World, in the unique setting of a Coastal listed Victorian Garden, through cost effective and innovative marketing attracted footfall of 3.3 million over 6 weeks to Bournemouth, creating a buzz not only in the UK but as far afield as Dubai and Canada. ADVOCACY FUTURE HIGH STREET FUND The Coastal BID facilitated Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council to submit an expression of interest for funding to support the regeneration of Boscombe High Street, and an application was submitted end of March 2019, with confirmation as to whether we are through to the next round due in July 2019. The Future High Street Fund has been created to renew and reshape town centres and high streets improving experience, driving growth and ensuring future sustainability. The Coastal BID believes that the Future High Street Fund aligns perfectly with Boscombe’s ambitions, and this comes at a critical time when discussions are ongoing between Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council / Boscombe Regeneration Partnership with the health services, the Neighbourhood Plan, and private sector partners, including the Coastal BID. British BIDs advise that the government received in excess of 300 applications from local authorities across the country all vying for a share of the £675 million Future High Street Fund, to transform their local High Streets into modern vibrant community hubs. Successful applicants will receive further support from a new body set up for this purpose, known as The High Streets Task Force. This will provide a hub for local leaders in High Streets and town centres to access support and guidance, to help them in developing and implementing high quality, evidence based, locally-led plans for their area. The Task Force aims to increase coordination between different groups and organisations, build skills and boost the capacity of the Local Authority through the provision of expertise. The High Street Task Force will come into existence in summer 2019.
