When purchasing a new home all of us know that one of the most important items to consider is the potential to recover your investment at some time in the future. It is the same when purchasing a new car. It is important to look at more than just the “deal” but more towards the brand, the value on offer and in the same way as you do with your new home, to the area, quality and potential resale value. Most new cars continue to be sold on the basis of “deals” that may seem great at the time, but are in fact the cause of most initial new car depreciation. The lowest price paid for a new car sets the initial resale price for that model and it is fair to say that unless you are one of the 15 or so companies who have between 300 and 3000 cars then this “deal” is not on offer to you from any make. No wonder that there is a popular belief that a car loses 30% when you drive it out the door because everyone loses the difference between their deal and the deal given to those largest few customers. At we have recognised that our customers deserve fair treatment. Everyone should pay the same fair and transparent price for a new car. This removes car distributor initiated depreciation leaving only the natural market forces to determine the vehicle’s depreciation through wear and tear and market demand. That is Our Price Promise. Our Price Promise challenges the traditional world of car distribution. Everyone starts the cycle of depreciation at the same point. Simply compare our used car prices with equivalent competitor models and you’ll see that we deliver on value, that Honda resale values are very strong and that we are keeping our promise. To find out more about the positive effect Our Price Promise is having on the car market, call us on 0800 255 666, go to www.honda.co.nz or visit a Honda agent.

HAUTE IN THE CITY

Urban streets are fraught with distraction but the

City puts you right back in control. It performs as powerfully as it looks, giving you everything you need when you command it, transporting you through town and back out without breaking a sweat.

From its dynamic silhouette to the sporty front grille, its sharp lines echo the contours of the urban landscape in which it thrives. But its good looks are no superficial afterthought with advanced aerodynamics delivering streamlined efficiency. From nightclub to sports club, the City makes traversing your town a whole lot more interesting. READY WHEN YOU ARE

The Honda City is poised, waiting to give everything when you 1.5L OUTPUT need it. From the world’s largest engine manufacturer comes one of the most intelligent – the revolutionary i-VTEC. 90 Delivering the optimal mix of engine performance, fuel 80 economy and emission control, i-VTEC is yet another innovation that sets Honda apart from the rest. 70 TORQUE (Nm) i-VTEC varies the amount of valve lift (opening), timing and 60 160 duration during the intake and exhaust stroke. This varies 50 combustion for economy or performance over varying engine speeds by dynamically retuning the engine while you drive. POWER (kW) 40 120 Drive-by-Wire electronic throttle control instantly translates 30 your intent with precision electronics responding directly to pressure applied on the accelerator, optimising engine output 20 80 and efficiency, and smoothing out gear shifts. Altogether 1000 2000 3000 4000 5000 6000 7000 ENGINE REVOLUTIONS (RPM) Honda delivers a better driving experience for you. FINGER TIP CONTROL

The City lets you keep your eye on the game and retain control. It’s all right at hand including an array of high-tech audio options like integrated control of your iPod and MP3 player. You’ll find steering controls, pockets, lights, mirrors and glove boxes right where they need to be, and even places where you didn’t know you needed them.

The City might be compact but you won’t be limited. It features a massive interior and boot capacity ready to swallow anything you can throw at it. With space lifted from a much larger car, you have room to carry everyone and their luggage out beyond the city limits. DRIVE EVERY DROP

Efficiency means economy, which is why our engineers strive to design an engine that drives every drop. The City’s revolutionary i-VTEC engine gives you more power, more fuel efficiency and fewer emissions and creates a leader for fuel economy in small, nimble sedans.

You’re safe in the City, protected by Honda’s inspired engineering innovations, allowing you to strike out on your adventure in total confidence. Each City features a solid passenger protection zone surrounded by an energy- absorbing integrated monocoque structure reinforced by a network of high-tensile steel beams, side intrusion beams, and crush zones – all part of Honda’s unique G-Force Control (G-Con) system. In the unlikely event of a frontal collision, the ACE structure acts much like a catcher’s mitt, absorbing the impact and delivering significantly advanced protection by better meeting opposing vehicles of varying contact heights. Energy is dissipated over a larger frontal area, both under and over the monocoque structure, dispersing energy forces around the cabin and creating a pocket of protection for everyone inside.

BRAKING CONTROL – ABS, EBD, EBA The City incorporates integrated braking systems that work to keep you in control. In an emergency you want to apply the maximum braking force available, whilst in a normal stopping situation you don’t need it all. EBA, EBD and ABS combine to apply maximum braking and control in an emergency by applying maximum brake power; distributing it between the front and rear to maximise grip; and ABS enables you to continue to steer and to aim for the gap. In this situation you should look to the gap and you will instinctively steer in the direction you are looking. In an emergency situation these systems combine to give you a better chance of avoiding a collision.

AIRBAGS The City has 6 , including front, front-side airbags, and side curtain airbags. The front passenger side features an Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) to alert the driver and prevent injury if the passenger is not seated correctly. The side airbags have a structure designed to deliver optimum protection for both the pelvis and the torso. Since offset frontal impacts can lead to a sideways rebound in which there are strong lateral forces, the curtain airbags may also be deployed to protect occupants’ upper bodies. LIGHTWEIGHT HIGH-RIGIDITY BODY FOR OVERALL EASE

SAFETY BELTS There are three-point ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) safety belts for all seating positions, with safety belt pretensioner and double load limiters for the front. In the rear, top tether anchor points combine with ALR seat belts to facilitate secure fitment of child seats.

Highly rigid body Highly efficient structure coupling structure DEDICATED TO ECO-PERFORMANCE TREEFUND The City loves the planet as much as you do, employing When you buy any new Honda, we fund the planting of greener materials and highly recyclable materials. ten native trees to help the bio-diversity The application of eco-friendly, easy-to-recycle, and throughout New Zealand. When selecting vehicles on emission output remember that whilst some diesel powered vehicles may perform as well as City for CO2 no diesel powered vehicle is as good when it comes to air quality. In other markets City with the same engine systems are certified to EURO IV making City up to 5.6 times less polluting than diesel vehicles that achieve Euro IV diesel standards only. Because technology has limitations European regulators have set Euro IV diesel standards less rigorously than for petrol powered vehicles as the graph shows. TALE OF TWO CITIES

Load up your specs and prepare to engage your city with intent. The Honda City comes in two models, both packing a 1.5L i-VTEC engine, air conditioning, cruise control, chrome exhaust finishers, a compelling audio system, and an impressive array of safety features. The S model is available in either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic, and comes with 15” steel wheels. While the E model is fitted with 16” alloys, fog lights, chrome outer door handles, sport velour trim and a leather telescopic steering wheel.
