ETSU Alumni Now 2018 MARCH ETSU Alumni Now Your Alumni Association Engage News Events Give Today Marketplace SoCon Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament ETSU fans are encouraged to attend this weekend’s SoCon Tournament in Asheville, N.C., as both the Buccaneer men’s and women’s basketball teams make their run at an NCAA Tournament berth. The women open play in the quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday inside the U.S. Cellular Center, while the men open their tournament in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 6 p.m. For ticket information regarding the SoCon Tournament, contact the ETSU ticket office at 423-439- 3878. Students are reminded that they can receive a 50 percent discounted ticket by purchasing their general admission seats at the U.S. Cellular Center box office. Additional information about special events throughout the week are also available by clicking here for the official tournament website. ETSU fans are encouraged to gather pre- and post-game at the Bier Garden located less than a block south of the U.S. Cellular Center Tri-Star Classic moves to Knoxville This weekend's Tri-Star Classic tournament March 2-4 will have a new location, as the University of Tennesse announced Tuesday it would host the Tri-Star Classic at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville. The Tennessee Smokies stated in their official release that, "due to extensive field repair this fall, the field at Smokies Stadium has not fully healed. The University of Tennessee has graciously allowed the event to continue, and the Tri- Star Classic will be played at Lindsey Nelson Stadium to allow the field to mend prior to the 2018 Smokies season." The tournament which was initially scheduled to take place at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn., involves ETSU, Tennessee, Memphis and MTSU. Game times have been altered and can be found below. Changes have also been made to the tournament schedule as well. The complete weekend schedule is as follows: Friday, March 2 3:00 p.m. - Tennessee (H) vs. ETSU 7:00 p.m. - MTSU (H) vs. Memphis Saturday, March 3 Noon - Tennessee (H) vs. Memphis 4:00 p.m. - ETSU (H) vs. MTSU Sunday, March 4 Noon - Memphis (H) vs. ETSU 4:00 p.m. - Tennessee (H) vs. MTSU *(H) indicates home team for each game. Tennessee will be home for all three games, while all other teams will serve as the home team once. Ticket Information Any tickets bought through the Tennessee Smokies organization will still be honored at the main gate of Lindsey Nelson Stadium. According to UT Athletics, all seating will be general admission with the lower chair back seating areas held for Smokies ticket buyers and UT season ticket holders. General admission tickets can also be purchased at the baseball ticket office or online at AllVols.com for $10 per day. Any tickets purchased online must be printed by the buyer before coming to the stadium. The gates will open 90 minutes prior to the opening pitch for each day. ETSU students and students from other participating institutions may enter for free with their student ID and sit in any general admission areas except for the lower chair back seats. Any ticket questions can be directed to the Tennessee Smokies ticket office (865-286-2300) or the Tennessee Athletics ticket office (865-656-1200). Parking Information Free baseball parking will be located in Lots GF1, GF2, GF3 and GF4. Free parking will also be available in the G16 garage on Friday and Sunday. The G16 garage will charge for parking beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Additional parking is located on the street along Todd Helton Drive. Handicap parking is located in marked handicap spaces on Pat Head Summitt Drive and G16 Garage. There will be a number of other events happening on Tennessee's campus throughout the weekend so parking may be limited, especially on Saturday. We encourage all fans to arrive early. Gameday/Stadium Policies & Information Clear Bag Policy In order to enhance safety and expedite fan entry at Tennessee athletic events, UT has implemented a clear bag policy at Lindsey Nelson Stadium and all other athletic facilities. Only one clear bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches (gallon size) per person is permitted. Fans are also allowed a small clutch purse not exceeding 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Stadium Entry Please be aware that gates will not open until 90 minutes prior to game time as opposed to two hours like it has been in years past. TICKETS GOING FAST FOR "TALKIN' HARDBALL" WITH JOHN SMOLTZ While general admission tickets still remain for the inaugural “Talkin’ Hardball” event with Hall of Famer John Smoltz set for March 6th at the Johnson City Country Club, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday that the special “Extra Inning” VIP post-event reception is now sold out. Because of the demand for tickets, those wishing to secure seats for this special evening of baseball talk are encouraged to get their tickets now by clicking here or at ETSUBucs.com or by calling 423-439- 3878. Two levels of tickets now remain, with general admission seats for $50 each, and sponsored tables for eight, including a pre- event reception for $2,000. ETSU, MILLIGAN PRESENT "WOMEN IN SONG" CHORAL FESTIVAL The "Women in Song" Choral Festival is back again for a second year. This two-day festival and concert, presented by the music departments of Milligan College and East Tennessee State University, celebrates female singers throughout the region and will be held Friday and Saturday, March 16-17, in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Milligan's Seeger Chapel, culminating with a free public concert on Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Guest clinician Joan Szymko, a prominent composer of choral music from the Pacific Northwest, will lead the festival including opportunities for participants to learn new music and increase musical skills. ETSU TO HOST THREE 'LUNCH AND LEARN' WORKSHOPS IN ABINGDON FOR SOCIAL WORKERS A series of three “Lunch and Learn” workshops for social workers and other professionals in the field of counseling will be held at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia, hosted by East Tennessee State University’s Department of Social Work.     2007 Outlook INTRO THIS IS LSU PREVIEW TIGERS COACHES REVIEW HISTORY RECORDS The Paul Mainieri Era LSU Begins Since becoming LSU’s baseball coach on June 28, Paul Mainieri has learned much about the Fighting Tiger program, including its magnificent tradition, its loyal fans and its expectations of winning championships. Most importantly, Mainieri and his assistant coaches – Terry Rooney, Cliff Godwin and Blair Barbier – have spent the past several months educating themselves about the assets of the young men that comprise the 2007 LSU squad. Mainieri said that the Tigers’ four-week fall practice session in October revealed much about the team’s assets. “We found out an awful lot about our team this fall, and most of it was very good,” Mainieri said. “I don’t think we’re going to have many candidates for All-American this year, but I do think the kids are going to play hard, they’re going to play with a lot of enthusiasm, and I do think we have enough talent to win.” The ’07 Tigers feature 18 returning lettermen, including four position starters and seven pitchers that recorded innings last season.
