TWO NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES! 1. Christian Service Outreach is looking to build a small group of volunteers interested in doing various tasks in the community. Could be helping an elderly parishioner, cleanup at a retirement home, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, Meals on Wheels, etc. We have many different ways to help the community and would like to build a small group we could call on for various tasks. This will not be a weekly commitment, just “when you can help” type group. Email Kelly Brittingham at[email protected], or call and leave a message at 248 698 3100 x 215. 2. We have a great opportunity for our kids looking for hours this summer! On Friday, June 25thfrom 10am1pm, we will be hosting a cleanup and picnic with the residents at a local Angels Place! Great opportunity to help others and spend some quality time with residents who have not had a lot of visitors or volunteers the past year. They do have strict protocols to follow to protect the residents, but it will still be a lot of fun. Plan to pack a lunch and come help! We are limited to the group size of 1012 people, so email me soon to get on the list! [email protected] Kelley Brittingham Outreach Coordinator

PARISH NURSE MINISTRY June is Safety Month Swimming pools and lakes are great places for physical activity and family fun. It’s important to follow simple steps in and around water. Did you know? · Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in children ages 14. Most drownings happen silently and in seconds. · 74% of deaths of children under 15 years old occurred at a residence. · Outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness with pools, lakes and oceans are on the rise. Water Safety tips: · Stay within an arm’s reach of children and new swimmers at ALL times. In or around water. · Assign an adult “water watcher.” · Learn how to swim. · Learn CPR. · Never swim alone. · Never dive in unfamiliar water. · If a child is missing, check the water first. · If you do get caught in a current, don’t try to fight it. Stay calm and float with it, until you can swim free. · Keep all electrical appliances, away from the water due to the potential shock hazard. Stay healthy in and out of water · Shower before getting into a pool for at least a minute · Take children out of the water hourly for bathroom breaks. · Stay out of the water if you have diarrhea. · Don’t swallow the water. · Keep ears as dry as possible and dry thoroughly after swimming. · Don’t swim when you have open wounds. In Case of Emergency……Have a cell phone available in a close, dry place. Do not use for distracting activities if you are the “water watch- er.” Drownings can happen silently and in seconds. I hope your family will cut this article out and put it in plan site and review it often. If you have any questions, please call me and I will call you back anytime. Have a fun and healthy summer.
