At Prideaux, in this parish, stood a castle, Lostwithiel, 5north from St. Austell, and 3~ north from Par supposed to have been built before the Norman Conquest; railway station, in the Eastern division of the county, east it was inhabited by a family of the same name, now division of the hundred of Powder, Bodmin union, Bodmin represented by Charles Prideaux-Brune, esq., of Prideaux county court district, rural deanery of Powder, Cornwall arch­ Place, Padstow; all that remains of the manor-house deaconry, and diocese of Exeter.
