Beginners Workshop WEST COAST 26-29 Sept 2016 Below is all the information you will need to help you prepare for your trip to Fox Glacier. Whilst we usually experience great weather, there is always a chance of rain on the West Coast! We will keep an eye on the weather and if it looks like we will be rained out for the entire workshop, then we will postpone/cancel with a full refund. If we decide to go ahead and still experience some rain, we won’t refund the course fees, but will endeavour to alter the itinerary to accommodate the weather, using wet periods to edit photos. THE TOTAL COST FOR THE 3 NIGHTS IS $1250.00 PER PERSON TWIN SHARE INCLUDES: • Twin share accommodation at a minimum of 3 star motel • Transport throughout the local area for the duration of the workshop • Guided excursions to some of Glacier Country’s most popular areas and some of our favourite (and secret) spots! • Expert tuition on work flow and basic editing techniques • The opportunity to ask whatever you like regarding all aspects of photography • Learning photography at some of the world’s most amazing locations, including: – Gillespies Beach: southern alps on a clear day, ocean, sunset, views of mt cook and Tasman and the Fox Glacier Neve – Bruce Bay: sunset, river mouth, rimu forest, – Fox Glacier Valley: creeks, Fox river, Fox Glacier, waterfalls, mountains, – Franz Josef Valley: mountains, Waiho River, Glacier, chamois (sometimes), 3 accessible waterfalls, Andris Apse gallery, lake mapourika – Fox Glacier: Lake Matheson (one of the worlds top 10 most photographed lakes in the world), Views of Mt Cook, Mt Tasman, Fox Range, Mt la Parouse, cattle, sheep, farming, rural scenes, old sheds, sheepyards, viewpoint, horse – Okarito: old boatshed, mountain views, ocean views, white herons (not guaranteed) PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE MEALS OR DRINKS. Beginners Workshop WEST COAST 26-29 Sept 2016 WHAT TO BRING: PROPOSED ITINERARY: • Good walking shoes/boots DAY 1: 26th Sept – Arrive by 3PM for coffee & intros Early dinner in Last Kitchen or Cook Saddle • Raincoat and wet weather gear Sunset at Bruce Bay • Warm gear: beanie, gloves thermals etc. DAY 2: 27 th Sept – sunrise: Lake Matheson • Plenty of layers Brekkie at Lake Matheson café Back at base for editing • Long sleeved clothing or you’ll be taken away Dinner at Last Kitchen or Cook Saddle by the sandflies! Sunset at Gillespies Beach • Insect repellent DAY 3: 28 th Sept - sunrise: Okarito • DSLR camera Brekkie at Franz Josef Back at base for editing • Tripod (a must for astrophotography!) Andris Apses gallery • Laptop loaded with Lightroom (download a Early dinner in Franz Josef free 1 month trial before you leave home!) Sunset at Okarito DAY 4: 29th Sept – sunrise: Bruce Bay • Battery charger and extra batteries Brekkie, goodbyes and feedback • Memory cards - at least 32gb • Snacks, meals and drinks, as these are not ITINERARY LOCATIONS MAY CHANGE AT THE LAST provided, but can be purchased in Fox MINUTE DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS!!! TCs: We need a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 to keep the group manageable and to ensure that each person gets plenty of one on one time. 20% deposit ($250) to be made on booking (non-refundable) with balance owing 1 week before commencement of the course. We will not hold a place without payment. If WE cancel the trip (eg. weather conditions or lack of numbers), we will either: 1. offer another set of dates or 2. refund 100% of your payment. If YOU cancel your booking, then we will refund your payment less the deposit ($250). You will need to make your own way to Fox Glacier, however we may be able to help you with transport from Hokitika You will need to organise health/travel insurance to cover equipment losses and failure as we will not be held responsible for such mishaps. You need to make sure that you have a level of fitness to cover our excursions and any health problems that may prohibit such activity need to be clearly expressed at time of booking. NB: You will need to be in Fox Glacier ready to start at 3pm on the 26th Sept where we will meet to go through what we will be covering during the workshop. Bring your notebooks, pen, and camera gear, as we will then be heading out for sunset. P.S.While you’re in Fox, we would highly recommend a trip up to the glacier!
