Alheadary The exponential increase of mobile users and the demand for high-speed data services has resulted in significant congestions in cellular backhaul capacity. As a solution to satisfy the traffic requirements of the existing 4G network, the 5G net- work has emerged as an enabling technology and a fundamental building block of next-generation communication networks. An essential requirement in 5G backhaul networks is their unparalleled capacity to handle heavy traffic between a large number of devices and the core network. Microwave and optic fiber technologies have been considered as feasible solutions for next-generation backhaul networks. However, such technologies are not cost effective to deploy, especially for the backhaul in high-density urban or rugged areas, such as those surrounded by mountains and solid rocks. Addi- tionally, microwave technology faces alarmingly challenging issues, including limited data rates, scarcity of licensed spectrum, advanced interference management, and rough weather conditions (i.e., rain, which is the main weather condition that affects microwave signals the most). -

Touch-screen smart phones have gradually occupied the market of traditional Qwerty Phones and become the mainstream products of mobile phone industry. However, few ergonomics research has been conducted on the touch screens of smart phones, while it has led to tendosynovitis among users owing to the overuse of thumbs. Sizes of smart phones in market range from 3.0 to 7.0 inches. What’s more, 4.0 inches and above are the common size of current touch screens. Also, considering the users’ habits, one-hand operation is preferred when the other hand is occupied. This paper has collected hand parameters of 80 subjects and has adopted an experiment which includes the performance testing and surveys of subjective evaluation by means of usability evaluation. After analysing correlation between touch-screen sizes and operation performances, the result indicates that under one-hand operation, the size of touch screen affects the operation performance significantly. However, it’s hard to implement one-hand operation if the touch-screen size is over 5.7 inches. Additionally, the thickness of smart phones affects the degree of comfort remarkably. 1 Introduction such as tendosynovitis, in a slow process which cannot be observed easily. Symbian Smartphones for the Enterprise Working without boundaries The growth of wireless computing belongs to the smartphone, a powerful device that extends the superb voice functionality of a mobile phone into the realm of data communications. From inception, it has been Symbian’s mission to supply operating systems that enable a mass market for enhanced communications and information services based on mobile phones. Already, Symbian OS is the industry’s standard choice for feature-rich phones that not only can handle calendars, contacts, messaging, email and Web browsing, but that can also integrate with virtually any enterprise information system. Though the market has already embraced smartphones, with over ten million of them sold in 2003, most people don’t fully grasp the impact that they will have on working life as these devices become more pervasive. For the enterprise, smartphones will have an impact on par with that of mobile telephony itself. Most of us already take for granted our ability to place and receive voice calls from anywhere at any time. But few of us yet take advantage of instantly having any data we wish at any time from that very same mobile phone. The implications are far reaching. For business travelers (or even managers and other workers that spend a lot of time away from their desks) it will mean having access to time-sensitive data and the ability to “stay in touch” with work teams on important issues in a manner that hasn’t previously been possible. This is readily achieved by delivering email, web access and instant messaging directly to the user’s phone. -
