ThefoundersoftheClubwhoboughttheoriginallandanddesignedthecoursecould scarcelyhaveimaginedtherichlegacytheywouldleavethetownandthesurround- ingarea.TheChairmanattheinauguralmeetingsaid,“Idon’tknowmuchaboutgolf butunderstanditisagameforthosepastmiddleageanditattractsvisitors.” Hewouldhardlyrecognisethemembershiptodaywhichrangesfrom10-year-oldstothosein theireighties.Howcouldhehaveforeseenthemanyadvancesintechnologywhichledusfromhickoryshafts andfeathergolfballstothetrolleysandelectricbuggieswhichhavedonesomuchtoextendthegolfingactivities ofthosewhoarewellpastmiddleageandnotquitesonimbleastheyusedtobe? InBangorwehavebeenprivilegedtonurturethecareersofmorethanonefamousgolferandwewillalwaysbe proudtosaythatforthesemanywellknowngolfers,themagicallstartedhere!
