A's Announce 2021 Coaching Staff
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 3, 2020 A’s Announce 2021 Coaching Staff OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s announced today that Mark Kotsay will move from quality control coach to third base coach on manager Bob Melvin’s coaching staff for the 2021 season. Kotsay returns for his sixth season on the A’s coaching staff. He joined the club as bench coach in 2016 and spent the previous three seasons as the quality control coach. Kotsay will also share infield and defensive positioning duties with Eric Martins. Darren Bush will be the A’s hitting coach for the seventh consecutive season and is in his ninth year on the A’s coaching staff. He is the longest tenured hitting coach in Oakland history and his nine seasons as a coach are tied for sixth most in club annals. Scott Emerson returns as the A’s pitching coach. He joined the staff in 2015 as bullpen coach and took over the reins as pitching coach on June 15, 2017. The 2021 season will mark Emerson’s 19th in the A’s organization. Ryan Christenson is back for his fourth consecutive season as Melvin’s bench coach. The 2021 season will be Christenson’s 16th in the A’s organization, which includes five years as a minor league manager and seven seasons as a player. Oakland native Marcus Jensen returns for his seventh season on the A’s Major League coaching staff. He joined the staff as assistant hitting/catching coach in 2015 and moved to his current role as bullpen coach in 2018. -

TRIPLE-A BASEBALL NEWS RELEASE June 17, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FIELD STAFFS ANNOUNCED FOR 2019 RMHC TRIPLE-A ALL-STAR GAME Buffalo Bisons skipper Bobby Meacham and Sacramento River Cats manager Dave Brundage have been tabbed the managers of their respective league’s All-Star teams for the 2019 Ronald McDonald House Charities Triple-A All-Star Game. The 32nd annual contest will take place at Southwest University Park in El Paso, Texas on Wednesday, July 10 at 7:05 MT. In his 29th season of coaching and 13th as a manager, Bobby Meacham was named the International League’s manager for the midsummer classic. Meacham is in his third season leading the Bisons. During his time with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate, Meacham has helped pave the way for players like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Danny Jansen, Cavan Biggio and Rowdy Tellez to make their Major League debuts. In 2015, Meacham received the ‘Bobby Mattick Award’ for excellence in player development within the Blue Jays organization. Meacham will be joined by pitching coach Stu Cliburn (Rochester Red Wings), coach Ramon Sambo (Norfolk Tides) and athletic trainer Chris McDonald (Toledo Mud Hens). Cliburn, currently in his seventh season overall with the Red Wings, is currently in his 27th season in the Twins organization and was also a coach for the 2016 IL All-Star team. Sambo, in his first year with the Tides, has spent 13 seasons in the Orioles organization. McDonald rounds out the IL’s field staff, returning for a fifth season with the Mud Hens and 16th season within the Detroit Tigers organization. -
