DIVISION I WOMEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP RECORDS BOOK 2016 Championship 2 History 4 All-Time Team Results 11 2016 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Stanford wins second title in four years: Doubles point deficits. Gutsy individual efforts. Three-set clinchers. Heart-stopping comebacks. “Upsets” of higher seeds. At the end of the day, was anyone really surprised? Definitely not No. 15 Stanford, which once again made a mockery of the bracket en route to claiming its 18th NCAA championship, transforming a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 victory over No. 12 Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon in steamy Tulsa, Oklahoma. It does feel a little odd for 19-time national champion Stanford (18 NCAA, 1 AIAW), long regarded as the gold standard in women’s college tennis, to be celebrating such success as an underdog. But, really, how can it not? Entering the postseason two weeks ago as a No. 15 seed despite winning the Pac-12 and knocking off the likes of Florida and Cal in the regular season, Stanford (20-5, 9-1 Pac-12) just ripped through a postseason gauntlet of high seeds in No. 2 Florida, No. 10 Michigan, No. 6 Vanderbilt and No. 12 Oklahoma State. Hoisting the hardware for the first time since 2013, Stanford has now won 14 of its last 16 NCAA matches when seeded lower than its opponent, a streak that covers six years. That includes winning it all as a No. 12 seed three years ago – at the time the lowest-seeded team to accomplish the feat – and taking home the crown in 2010 as a No.

DIVISION I WOMEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP RECORDS BOOK 2017 Championship 2 History 5 All-Time Team Results 11 2017 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS In a match full of momentum swings, it was Gator freshman Ingrid Neel who shrugged off the pressure and rallied for a three-set victory that clinched Florida's 4-1 win against Stanford and secured the seventh NCAA Championship title in program history. The Gators began the match at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex winning the doubles point and took early leads in singles action, capturing the first set on three courts. Kourtney Keegan needed exactly one hour into singles play to give Florida a 2-0 lead as she posted a 6-0, 6-0 win against Emma Higuchi. It was the Gator senior’s first double-bagel singles win of the season and her first-ever in NCAA dual match play, as she capped the team portion of her career just 75 miles from her hometown of Roswell, Ga. Florida seemed firmly in control, as Belinda Woolcock and Brooke Austin were nearing the end of their respective matches – even holding simultaneous match points that would have effectively ended the dual match right then. Emily Arbuthnott, however, fought off a pair of match points against Austin and evened the second set at 5-all. Woolcock did go on to earn a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Caroline Doyle on court one in one hour and 22 minutes and Florida took a 3-0 lead. Woolcock won the final four games of the match, breaking twice including once at love for a 4-3 lead.
