Storm Water Management

The surrounding area is predominantly residential and commercial area. The project area is 117965.00 sqm. By applying rational formula the peak rate of storm runoff considering 12 mm/hr rainfall is given below.

The project area = 117965.00 sqm = 11.7 ha. By applying rational method, the peak rate of run- off = 10 x 0.60 x 12 x 11.7 cum/hr. = 842.4 cum/hr. = 0.234 cum/sec. Velocity through pipe is 1.0 m/sec (non-scouring and non-silting). The required diameter of pipe is 550mm.

The storm drains of the complex are/will be collecting and conveying the rainwater into the adjacent Corporation drain. The internal drainage system will be designed considering the invert level of the Corporation drain (outfall) in-front of the project site to avoid any flooding or water logging in the site.

Rain Water Harvesting

The total roof area is about 15906.85. The SEAC guideline regarding rain water harvesting is as follows -

Sl. Category of Building Minimum percentage of rain water which No. should harvested by Surface Storage Sub-surface Recharge

1 10 to 15 storied Building & Above 40% 60% 2 6 to 10 storied Building 35% 45% 3 3 to 5 storied Building 25% 15% (recharge or additional storage) 4 Less than three storied Building 10% 10%

Note While suggesting the guidelines, RWH potential in 1000 sqm Roof Area was considered to be 7, 68,000 liters annually based on the rainfall characteristics. Uniform utilization of harvested rainwater throughout the year from created storage tank was also considered. Based on the above consideration, the storage facility to be created from 1000 sqm roof area for Sl. No. 1,2, 3 were thought to be 3 lakh litre, 2.5 lakh litre and 1.5 lakh liters respectively.

As per SEAC proposed guidelines the rain water harvesting potential is calculated in the following Table:

MINIMUM PERCENTAGE RAIN WATER OF RAIN WATER WHICH HARVESTING TOTAL SHOULD HARVESTED POTENTIAL AS PER ROOF RAIN NO. OF BY SEAC GUIDELINES DETAILS AREA, WATER STORY SUB- SUB- SQM POTENTIAL, SURFACE SURFACE SURFACE SURFACE lakh litre STORAGE STORAGE, RECHARGE RECHARGE, (%) lakh litre (%) lakh litre G+8, Residential 11592.2 89.03 35 45 31.16 40.06 G+7

Total 15906.85 122.16 37.89 44.51 TOTAL 82.40

As per SEAC proposed guidelines of storage facilities and sub-surface recharging facilities required will be 37.89 lakh liters and 44.51 lakh liters respectively. Total volume of rooftop rainwater to be harvested as per SEAC guideline is 82.40 lakh litres i.e. 8240 cum.

There are two water bodies present within the site, which act as natural rain water storage. Apart from that we are proposing 5 nos. storage tanks (3 nos. storage tanks already constructed and another 2 nos. will be constructed) each of 40 cum capacity i.e. 200 cum (total) for rooftop rainwater storage. Rest 80.40 lakh litre i.e. 8040 cum) will be recharged through 2 nos. recharge tubewell of each 150 mm diameter. Considering 81 days rainfall in a year, per day average rain water available is 99.27 cum/day. Per day average rainfall available for recharge for each recharge structure = 99.27/2 = 49.64 cum/day.

Electricity, DG sets, Stack height

Electricity is being supplied by WBSEDCL. The electrical load is about 5375 KVA (4300 KW). DG sets - 6 nos. 180 KVA each (for residential part) has been proposed. The emission from DG sets would be discharged through stack of height 2.7 meter above DG room for each 180 KVA DG set. Fuel required for DG sets was about 173 litre/hr. Energy consumption = 38.54 W/sqm. Solar energy used will be more than 1% (43 KW) of the demand load.
