Results achieved and recommendations:

This was a great personal learning experience for me as well as an important opportunity to network and understand other Commonwealth democracies in the Commonwealth. Given the global situation, particularly in the Middle East subsequent to the seminar, the importance of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's role in promoting and educating on democratic structures has only been enhanced.

It was an invaluable experience to better understand how other systems of democracy operate, especially at a local and supra national level.

I recommend that the Queensland Parliamentary continues to strongly support these seminars as they arise as they will greatly improve the ability of Members to put the Queensland system in its international context,

Conclusion:

The United Kingdom branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is taking a leadership role in assisting Commonwealth countries improve the understanding of Members of Parliament of the Westminster traditions and practices.

Queensland is well placed to support them undertake this critical objective. These seminars are critical in providing important networking and information sharing opportunities for Members of the Queensland Parliament and should continue to be a part of this process.
