The global spread of the corona virus (COVID- 19) followed by lockdowns has affected economies across the globe including India. Government has taken several steps to ensure that the country is well prepared to face the challenges and threats posed by Covid-19.

The scheme was revamped in 2014-15 and revamped scheme is under implementation since 2015-16. Since then 224 proposals to set up clusters have been approved against the target of 171 till March 2020, out of which 54 clusters have become functional. About 1.39 lakh artisans are likely to benefit from these clusters. Funds to the tune of Rs.492 crore are committed for these clusters.
