Aquarex: New Water-cooled Blown Film Line

The AQUAREX is a new family of blown film lines at W&H and will turn almost everything you've come to know about blown film extrusion up-side-down, including the configuration, production process and film properties.

The AQUAREX "upside down wet" blown filmline blows film downwards and uses water instead of air to cool the bubble. The extremely fast cooling keeps the crystallinity of the film low while maintaining its amorphous nature. The result is soft filmwith high clarity and gloss, and exceptional puncture and tear resistance.

Filmex No matter what type of film you're looking to extrude - barrier, PP, stretch or surface protection - the modular FILM EX cast film line can be individually configured to meet your needs. The FILM EX operates on the chill-roll principle. Resin pellets are melted in the extruders (varying from 3 to 12 depending on the line configuration). In the feed block, streams of melt come together and are distributed up to 5 m, then cooled in the chill-roll. This principle guarantees excellent optical and mechanical film properties even at very high outputs.

Dynastar - The revolutionin gravure printing. With the DYNASTAR we present a new-generationgravure printingmachine for flexiblepackaging, specially developed for high profitability, including with short and ultrashort print runs of under 3,000 meters. The DYNASTAR is characterized by a job changeover timethat is half that of the quick-change gravure printing presses commonly used today. Due to its compact design, the 8-color version of the machine only requires floor space of around 22x4 m with a hall height of 4 m. The optionalcombination with an innovativeloan cylinder concept further increases profitability. The DYNASTAR is designed for print widths of 650/820 mm, a print length range of 320-700 mm, and a speed of max. 300 m/min, and can be fitted with 6-12 color decks.

HELIOSTAR A - rotogravure printing presses for packaging films. With the new HELIOSTAR A, W&H extends its range of gravure printing presses for the broad spectrum of packaging films. The new, easy-to-operate and extremely cost-efficient gravure printing press series is designed for the use of axial and hollow cylinders and can be configured with up to 12 printing units. In the width range of 1000 - 1300 mm and print length range of 450 - 920 mm, the requirements for the printing of usual packaging films were systematically met. The efficient inking and drying systems are designed for maximum printing speeds of 400m/min. As energy carriers, thermal oil, hot steam and electric power can be used.

Heliostar S - The universal gravure printingpress. With constantly decreasing run lengths in the gravure printing industry, fast and reliable job changeovers are more important today than top line speeds. To accommodate this trend, W&H has developed the new HELIOSTAR S range of gravure presses available with printing widths from 600 mm (23.62") to 1400 mm (55.12"). The HELIOSTAR S comes in three versions. The HELIOSTAR SL uses shafted cylinders in conjunction with slide-in carts, the SH is designed for the use of hollow cylinders. The SE version is equipped with the TURBOCLEAN automatic ink supply and wash-up system.

MIRAFLEX S The MIRAFLEX S differentiates itself on the market with its compact size, easy accessibility and operation. The press can be tailored to printers needs, for example, by integrating mono winders instead of non-stop winders. Given the trend to shorter runs and smaller packaging sizes, the market asks for a narrow Cl flexo press able to run such jobs and still be profitable. The MIRAFLEX s from Windmoller & Holscher does just that.

The hot washing stage serves not only for the removal of adhesives, but also for was-hfog~ _u-t emaining impurities in the flakes, such as sugar, soda residues, etc, under strict control of the various process parameters such as pH-level, detergent, de-foamer, temperature and dwell time. The complete process, together with the dosing of the caustic agent and detergent are controlled automatically.

By cleaning the process water in an ultra-filtration stage, we can ensure a closed water circuit and reduce the consumption of fresh water, heating energy and chemicals to a minimum.

TMIP (www.tmip.termomeccanica.com) can provide systems to treat the exhaust Air from Printing Presses (as rotogravure or flexographic) + lamination.

Inks contain solvents which provide the low viscosity necessary for printing. Immediately after being transferred to the printed material, these inks are heated which drives out the solvents and allows the ink to set. This process produces solvent - laden air which must be processed before it is discharged to the atmosphere.

SOLVENT RECOVERY PLANT The solvent recovered, by means of Activated Carbon can be directly reused in printing.

Solvent recovery involves recovering the solvent from the air collected in the dryer of rotogravure printing presses for reuse in new inks. Solvent recovery begins with a large fan drawing the air-solvent mixture in the dryer to one or more activated carbon adsorbers. As the air passes through the adsorbers, the solvents attach to the surface of the activated carbon pellets. The air, now cleaned, is returned to the atmosphere. When the carbon is fairly well saturated with solvent, Steam or Nitrogen is sent, causing the solvent to detach from the carbon and absorb into the Steam. The solvent vapours are then condensed and feed to gravity separator. In case of mixture of solvents, in order to reach the requested purity of the solvent, the solvents are sent to distillation unit. The PAY-BACK of these plant lasts less than 2 years.

Process Description:- The Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) is a thermal treatment of exhaust process gas for pollutant removal before the ambient emission. The system is a type of thermal oxidizers that uses a bed of ceramic material to absorb heat from the exhaust gas. It then uses this captured heat to preheat the incoming process gas stream and destroy air pollutants emitted from process exhaust streams at temperatures ranging from 800 °C to 950 °C. The Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) utilizes the thermal power of the pollutants contained in the exhaust waste air for the combustion process. The thermal energy, which is produced during combustion, is recovered and used to heat the incoming exhaust air.

The oxidizer utilizes a fuel gas burner for system start-up and for heat integration if the VOCs concentration is low.

Diverting valves allow the process airflow to be diverted into and out of the oxidizer in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise mode.
