Nunes 518-399-8395; [email protected] The Silent Majority Has Spoken received 146 more reader responses to my quest for reader input on their desired I method of delivery of the Stamp Insider — hard copy, internet copy, or both as is cur- rently done. The score card is 144 for continuing the status quo of getting both and two for getting only an internet copy. I desire to continue receiving additional input from Federation member clubs and our advertisers so that my vision and their visions are aligned. The silent majority that has spoken on this subject wants the status quo, the cost apparently being worth the convenience. Wilcox Printers & Publishing continues to print an excellent journal and our editor, Albert W. Starkweather, and staff continue to find, generate, and produce interesting stamp topics, pictures, and history. The USPS service to the east from the midwest is definitely superior to that from the south, based on the history of timely delivery from our current and past printers. The black cloud of increased cost for USPS mailing is on the horizon for 2011 and may re- quire an increase in the Stamp Insider’s price. That potential change is in postage rates for mail- ing and the mailing class defined for theStamp Insider. We had a drop shipment increase for the November–December 2010 issue when we were deemed ineligible for the printed matter rate. The reason was that our publication contained advertising, which it has for the past 25 years. What has changed? Not us. Is it the pressures of the USPS’ lost revenue of $7 billion — yes seven billion or seven and nine zeros following? Did they just catch us? The Federation absorbed this major cost increase — a factor of two — based on the USPS ruling and wait to change prices when the USPS changes its rates this upcoming year. The U.S. Postal Service Governors recommended increasing the price of a one ounce piece requiring a first class stamp by two cents to 46 cents and authorized the production of a pane of four evergreen tree branches as the newest image for forever stamps.
