Strict drug control is one of the pillars that support fair racing in Australia. In the racing year 1998/99 only 0.26% of the 17963 samples analysed proved positive to a prohibited substance.

Emirates World Series of Racing 2000

The second year of the World Series of Racing is being staged in 2000. The series now involves 11 races and almost A$50 million total prizemoney. Points are awarded to a horse based on its finishing position in each race, with the overall winner receiving $US1 million.
