The assembly will please remain standing during the recession.
Diplomas and certificates will be distributed immediately after the exercises on the Great Lawn around the Armillary Sphere.
During the Procession, all guests are asked to observe and remain behind the string barriers.
All guests, including individuals using cameras or video equipment, are asked to respect the integrity of the ceremonies during the Commencement Exercises by remaining outside the circle and behind the seniors throughout the distribution of diplomas.
Following the distribution of diplomas, the head of school and the faculty invite graduates and their guests to a reception in Flagstaff Courtyard or in case of rain, in the Smith Center. THE CLASS OF TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN

YALE BOWL — awarded to the member of the senior class who has attained the highest proficiency in scholarship and athletics
FACULTY PRIZE — awarded to a member of the graduating class with outstanding scholarship during the senior year
MADAME SARAH ABBOT AWARD — awarded to the young woman in the senior class who, in the opinion of the faculty and her fellow classmates, best exemplifies qualities attributed to Mme. Abbot: strong character, effective leadership, and outstanding scholarship
AURELIAN HONOR SOCIETY AWARD — awarded to a member of the graduating class who, in the opinion of the faculty and fellow classmates, is outstanding in sterling character, high scholarship, and forceful leadership

Of special note
This programs tide, "Order of Exercises at Exhibition," reflects a tradition, harking back to the late eighteenth century, when Academy students publicly exhibited before their schoolmasters their mastery of the schools curriculum in order to earn a diploma. Academy graduates gave a Latin dissertation, a Greek dialogue, and an extract from Scott's Lady of the Lake, among several other declamations, according to the program of exercises of August 21, 1821.
Senior women carry roses in the tradition of Abbot Academy. The Abbot roses are provided through the generosity of the Abbot Academy Association.
